    1. [ARMADISO-L] Re: Red Star and New Home area
    2. Red Star is located in southeastern Madison County and what is left of Red Star is on Highway 16. This area is not a wilderness but has paved highways. As far as the New Home area, this is only a community name and there was never a post office by that name. There was a school by that name at one time. The school district was established on October 18, 1891 and was located in Township 14 North, Range 24 West, approximately two miles east of Boston, Arkansas. The school consolidated with St. Paul on June 2, 1949. I will do some checking of the census records and cemetery records that I have to see if I can find anything on your Lewis family. Joy Russell

    3. Send your names again. I thought you could get on our Ark gen web. My son is taking me out in the county to observe one of our family monuments. He will know how to get there and unless we have to treck into absolute wilderness I will get them for you. I wrote that Red Star had been surveyed as an historical site and for the epa. I have no idea how far back in the wilderness this is. I know it means a lot to you. Resend. Rea I have not seen where Red Star is but like I said we are country people and if we can get to it we will. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 03, 2000 4:33 PM Subject: [ARMADISO-L] re: cemetery look up please > hi listers, > does anyone know how i can find my gg-grandparents that died in Madison > CO,AR? they lived in Redstar Twnshp. > I don't know what cemetery they are buried in. i do have death dates. > thanks, > cheryl > > > ==== ARMADISO Mailing List ==== > "Visit the Madison County, AR Web Page at: http://members.aol.com/ptice/prhome.htm" > >

    1. [ARMADISO-L] Re:Lewis family buried near Red Star, Arkansas
    2. Hello: I work with the Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society and we are currently working on a series of cemetery books that will eventually cover the entire county. Cemetery Book #4 which is the next in the series will be published by the end of the year 2000 and will cover the southeast corner of the County. This is the location of the Red Star area. I suggest you write to Hope Creek, 4004 Miller Drive, Springdale, AR 72762. She is compiling the cemetery book and might be able to help you. She doesn't have e-mail. Your Lewis family would probably be buried in either "Radford-Freewill Cemetery", "Old Bethel Cemetery" or Skinner's Gap Cemetery" since those are the three closest to Red Star. Hope this helps. Joy Russell

    3. Cheryl, We are going to AR. this Fri. or Mon. for a couple of weeks(we live in KS). I will try to go out to the Cem. and see if I can find out any info for you. I called some older relatives there to check and see if they remembered the Lewises. One remembered a Big Willy Lewis, they said he was 7 ft. tall. They say he is buried at Radford or Freewill Cem. (New Home) I doubt if you will ever get an obit. The newspapers and the court house has burned a time or two. It will be 2 or 3 weeks before I can get back with you, as I don't have a laptop.
