Chris Isbell, a farmer from Humnoke who is well known in this local area for his quality performances will follow Cole. Those in attendance will have then have the privilege of hearing the renowned Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Men’s Chorus of Little Rock, Arkansas composed of over 35 men of various ages who sing for the joy of it. Most of these men grew up within Lonoke County and return each March to offer support for the Lonoke County Museum. They will close the evening and lift your spirits with their rich resounding voices singing praises to the Lord. Three of Lonoke County’s favorite authors will once again be in attendance. Ms. Liza Ashley, a native of Pettus, who was employed as the cook for six Arkansas governors at the Governor’s mansion will be on hand to autograph and sell copies of her highly regarded cookbook, Thirty Years at the Mansion. No better Southern tried and true recipes are to be found! Also, scheduled to be in attendance is Earnest Best of Des Arc, who is 91 years young, still sharp as a tack, and the well-known author of Sharecropper’s Son. Mr. Best, who is the author of six books, was the actually the son of a sharecropper who worked the cotton fields of Tomberlin. This is an insightful book to our older citizens of Lonoke County. Charles Cunning, who lives in Hot Springs, is a 1958 graduate of Lonoke High, is the author of Memories of Ward, Arkansas and his latest, A Son Of Lonoke, a delightful 1950’s book about growing up in simpler times as he warmly recalls the high school prom, his childhood friends, and trips around the neighborhood. This is a must for folks who lived during that time. Both Best and Cunning who have fond memories of their lives in Lonoke County, will be offering for sell as well as autographing their books. Please do take advantage of this opportunity to meet these delightful people. Door prizes will be given so come early and be sure to register for all. There will also be raffles on two items: a turkey fryer/fish cooker and a beautiful handmade quilted wall hanging.
