This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: JURDEN and TAWXLEY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/620 Message Board Post: ...In the 1880 Census there is a Ella JURDEN (age 16) and brother, George JURDEN (age 18) listed as daughter and son of Nansy TAWXLEY. (ED 192; Page 449B). The name JURDEN suggests that Nansy was married before and had these two children (Ella and George) , but also JURDEN may have been her maiden name and these children possibly were born out of wedlock. ....I am trying to locate any information on these people and what Nansy's maiden name was or any marriage information for Nansy either to a JURDEN or TAWXLEY. Nansy was said to be born in Tennessee (about 1833) as were both of her parents. ....In this same 1880 Census it shows another son (Dank TAWXLEY, age 11) born to Nansy and Dank's father is listed as born in ALABAMA. This indicates marriage to TAWXLEY took place in Alabama. ....Also, part of AR later became OKLAHOMA. Does anyone know if Pettus, Lonoke, Ark was later to become OK.? ...Any information on these two Surnames (JURDEN & TAWXLEY) is greatly appreciated. Please contact me at trendsa@bellsouth.net. Thanks.
