I have trying to obtain any information on my great-parents that I can, with no luck. His name was William A. Thompson and her's was Suson (Susie) Plummer and they were married on 10 Dec 1885 in Lonoke. No one in the family seems to even know their parents names, if they had siblings, where they moved to, etc... I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide in the matter. I am stationed with the Air Force in San Antonio, TX and have provided my work email address above. Thanks in advance and have a good day.

I have noticed some bad errors in Lonoke County data - have been able to correct some and not others. One thing that is glaring is the Lonoke County history that came out a few years ago, published by the two ladies from England. In it, they have my oldest brother as being the father of all us kids and also have him as president of the Citizen's Bank in Carlisle. My brother never worked at the bank but was dad was cashier there for many years. My sister, Mildred, who lives in Carlisle, showed me the info that she gave to the authors and I cannot yet understand how they got it so wrong. As a wrong, I ignore everything in the book they wrote, everything. As soon as I finish a project I am on to write a technical publication for a company, I will make a list of Woosley stuff in Lonoke County and send it to you for your reading. Also, I will be in Carlisle in October. Thanks for! writing. What township is Union Valley cemetery in ? Dale

My grandfather name is David "Dave" Jackson Woosley not Dale Woosley. I went to Lonoke courthouse to look to see why they had Dale and not Dave for my grandfather and if you look close you can tell that it is Dave. The same with my aunt. Their daughter my aunt is Myrtle not North. I can connect all the Woosley's to the right family that are in the Tomberlin cemetery. This is my personal family. Not all of the Woosley's are buried there some are in the Union Valley cemetery. My parents, my uncle, my aunt, my brother, my cousin are in the union valley cemetery. There is also a book out on the cemeteries that have lots of wrong name for the Woosley. The book is compiled by Tom C. Martinet. Both of my brothers name are wrong. Roy for Ray and Doyle for Doyne. To let you know what I am talking about. So if you are still interested let me know. Hope to hear from you. Carolyn Woosley Schmerber

She is living with Isabella D. Lee, relationship not indicated. The census indicates she and her parents were from MO. There is a William A. Thompson living in Totten. He's 24 from Missouri (it indicates parents are also from Tennessee). He is living with wife Parlee (?), 17 from Mississippi. (parents from Mo. and Ala.) There is also a Margaret Scalton, age 56, mother, from Ala. I assume she is Parlee's mother. Also a hired hand, Marion Ashby, 18, from TN is living there. Not much to go on, just thought maybe it would help.

I was so thrilled to find this post. Here is the information that I have, and YES please contact me if you have any thing further. I am sending you both an email with more detailed information. My mother said that John and Dora, (her grandparents on her father's side - my gr-gr grandparents- William H. Garner was my grandfather) owned the General Store and a Gas pump in Coy, AR. She said that "Mimmi" (Dora) always said that she was "black-dutch" origin - not sure what that means, but that's what she said. Mother has a photo of William and his father John Garner together. William had a brother named Charlie (Charles?) who mom says was an Attorney (location in email), his wife was called Doxie (possibly a second marriage) . She believes that Charlie’s daughter was Dora Mae, and she said that they referred to Charles and Doxie’s son as “Little George” - she remembers that “little George” sang on the ra! dio. There was also a cousin that she referred to as “Bub” and thought maybe his real name was “Pyles” – he was a Chiropractor in Little Rock. There was another Garner “somewhere in there” that she said was an artist (painter). I will also email additional information regarding "Black Dutch" decent - many possibilities, German, Jewish, Indian...the list is unbeliveable.

    1. [ARLONOKE] Lonoke County Museum, update, Please Read!
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/570 Message Board Post: The Way It Is: Hello everyone. I want to give an update on the current status of the Lonoke County Museum. The Lonoke City Council in its July meeting gave us permission to pursue further the possibility of obtaining city land right in the center of town. It is like Charles Cunning, one of our members and the author of Son Of Lonoke said, "It's location, location, location." When the Lonoke County Museum was chartered in March of 1998, those founding members knew it would not be an easy task. Everything had to be done. Those of us who have been there since day one can recall things we did right, and some things we did wrong. We learned from our mistakes. We built on our good deeds. A good name cannot be bought or sold. The best awaits us. Currently, the oral history project is moving ahead. With only 50 as the goal, that actual number has been exceeded, in fact we are still rolling forward with this. Mr. Earnest Best, author of Sharecropper's Son was just interviewed in mid-July. As he is moving in August to be near his daughter in Florida, we just could not wait any longer. At the end of the interview, Mr. Best was presented with a lifetime membership in the Lonoke County Museum for all the assistance he has given to us. Thank you Mr. Best!!! Southern home cooking recipes are still needed for the cookbook, which will eventually be published. This will be a fund raising project for the museum in the future. Some of the little ladies who have been interviewed during the oral history project have been quite generous with their favorite recipes. The WWII service project of locating the people from Lonoke County and securing relevant information is a huge success. Four huge binders are filled. If you have someone who has not been included, please do not be shy about bringing it to Sherryl's attention. She would like to locate every single person-man or woman- plus have the photo to go with the name. It does not even matter if this is your relative or not, if you have a photo or information to submit, please do. An Eberts Field diorama, which has been in the planning for a long time, is now being assembled. Money donations will be greatly appreciated. Some helping hands for the assembly are now needed. Eberts Field artifacts are being sought. Something really big is planned for next spring. But that will be a surprise for later on. You will be pleased. A lot of planning is going into this. Hard working members are still needed. The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. If you want to be a working member, you would be truly appreciated. Dues are still only $10 per individual and for that you get four newsletters and a part of a worthy project that will long be remembered. Please remember that Lonoke County Museum is to preserve our rich heritage while we honor our loved ones. Written by Linda T. Acrey, July 18, 2003 Lonoke County Museum Charter Member 5th Generation in Lonoke County "So all can be remembered"
