In my research, I have found that ancestors that lived in that area of Lonoke County tend to be buried in and around Jacksonville, Pulaski County.

I asked my friend who does the research. She said Gray was in the northwest corner of what is now Lonoke County in and around what became Cabot in later times. If I remember right that was the more populated area in the beginning. If you wish a researcher, just write me and I can give you her name. She will want a donation to the local museum building fund, which is her reason for doing work for folks. She has written three books about the county, so she knows the old stuff. Good luck!!

While I am glad you found some info, there is no way the lady died in Lonoke in 1864 as both the county named Lonoke and town named Lonoke--as far as I know-- did not exist at that time. Could it have been what became Lonoke County in 1873 or even the town of Lonoke? If you need a town name, Brownsville may have been it. You need to remember part of Lonoke County was one Pulaski and part once belonged to Prairie. Some of my family which arrived in the area in 1869 had the honor of living in Pulaski, Prairie and Lonoke County without ever moving as the county lines got moved, thus the three counties. I mention that only in case you still need to try and track information.

We have since determined that the father of Thomas Pinkney Carroll is not John M.Carroll, but Thomas Carroll. John M. is Thomas's brother. We are still looking for information on Melinda Fuller's parents (she was b. 1820 in Tennessee, died in 1864 in Lonoke). She is Thomas P. Carroll's mother. If anyone has information on this line, we would appreciate a reply.
Hi Judy, Gray twp is Jacksonville area. I think in the 1950s or 60s to twp just became Jacksonville (in Pulaski). There is another Gray twp on the Lonoke side-- just opposite, on the other side of the county line. I would love to have any thing that you do on the Woosley's. My two brothers would love to visit with you in Oct. If there is a way let me know. I live in Or. and have just returned from my wonderful state of Ark. I go back each year. I have meet several wonderful people who work in the Lonoke records. Union Valley is in Indian Bayou township. About 2 or so miles north from Coy. Hwy 31 off hwy 165 . If you are in Coy/Tomberlin turn left going toward England. Turn right onto hwy 31. Not far on hwy 31 keep watch on your right for a white church in the field. I think about 1/4 mile from hwy 31. One confusing thing about Sr and Jr in the Woosley family. My grandfather David Jackson Woosley named some of his children after his siblings. There is a James Monroe Woosley Sr and a JMW, Jr and they are Uncle and nephew. Sr and his wife Jessie Mizel are buried at Tomberlin and Jr in the Union Valley with his wife Lona and son Francis. Hope you have a wonderful visit. Let me hear from you. I will take any information that you would share. I have not started to put together my book. I am still gathering information. As you know any thing no matter how small is always a welcome. Thanks again for your note. Carolyn
