    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ward Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/627 Message Board Post: Albert and ???? Ward lived in Cabot, Arkansas and gave up their children to an orphanage in Little Rock around 1903. The children were: William, Irene, Walter, and Eula. Walter is my grandfather and was born in 1900. Irene Jiles Johnson lived in Boxside, Arkansas and had a daughter named Edna Earl that lived in California. William may have been adopted by a Jones family. I do know that there was a "Bill" and Hursel Ward in DeQueen that was a brother or nephew to Walter. Any information would be appreciated.

He was unmarried and living next to A M Lemmons, age 33, and his family. This was Lafayette Twp, district 191 Lonoke Co., AR. On the 1900 Lonoke Co, Indian Bayou Twp there is on page 12 a Bob Lemons, with his wife Ester and 7 children. In 1920, Arkansas County, LaGrue Twp there is a Robert W. Lemmons age 68 with his wife Ester M. The 1930 Census of Faulkner CO, AR, Wilson Twp. shows Robert W. Lemons age 79 and his wife Mary E. age 61. All the census show husband and wife born in NC. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/620.1 Message Board Post: Hello. I know the name. Jurden is how the folks in this part of the country say Jordan. The family surname of Jordan, and still pronounced many times as Jurden is still around. To be honest, I probably even know the name Tawxley, but I have yet to get a grip on that one. I bet you are dealing with a real Southern way of saying it rather than how it was. Parts of Lonoke County were parts of Prairie and Pulaski. Lonoke County in the central part of Arkansas being only about 20-25 miles east of Little Rock. In regard to this statement, "JURDEN may have been her maiden name and these children possibly were born out of wedlock," you are probably wrong about that. I am just making judgements on what little I knew about that family surname and what I have heard my own relatives say about such situations. There were a lot of folks who came to Arkansas after the Civil War from Alabama. Pettus was a pretty prosperous area of the state at the time they were here. I would suggest that you check that area for burials, etc. There are four Jordans buried at Mulberry just outside of England, Arkansas including a Manley L. Jordan (b. 1887 d.1968). There is also a George D. Jordan (b. 1913-1973). I am wondering if this is possibly the son and grandson of the George Jurden. I would believe that he was and is a connection to that grouping. England is just southwest of that Pettus area maybe as much as 15-20 miles. Your truly best bet to find some info on this is to contact Sherryl Miller. I would suggest that you write Sherryl Miller at the Lonoke County Museum, PO Box 873, Lonoke, Ar. 72086. Or you can phone her at 501-676-2496. She will go to the history commission in Little Rock to search if necessary. We are 25 miles east of Little Rock on the interstate to Memphis. Sherryl will want an outline of what you are looking for, who it is, time frame, county, etc. Sherryl will tell you where she looked, so you know that place has been searched. Sherryl does this strictly as a fund raiser. Sherryl will expect a donation to the museum building fund for her efforts. She found some stuff for me just after Christmas. Sherryl has written at least three books and is highly regarded in this area. Good luck. Linda T. Acrey Lonoke, Arkansas

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: JURDEN and TAWXLEY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/620 Message Board Post: ...In the 1880 Census there is a Ella JURDEN (age 16) and brother, George JURDEN (age 18) listed as daughter and son of Nansy TAWXLEY. (ED 192; Page 449B). The name JURDEN suggests that Nansy was married before and had these two children (Ella and George) , but also JURDEN may have been her maiden name and these children possibly were born out of wedlock. ....I am trying to locate any information on these people and what Nansy's maiden name was or any marriage information for Nansy either to a JURDEN or TAWXLEY. Nansy was said to be born in Tennessee (about 1833) as were both of her parents. ....In this same 1880 Census it shows another son (Dank TAWXLEY, age 11) born to Nansy and Dank's father is listed as born in ALABAMA. This indicates marriage to TAWXLEY took place in Alabama. ....Also, part of AR later became OKLAHOMA. Does anyone know if Pettus, Lonoke, Ark was later to become OK.? ...Any information on these two Surnames (JURDEN & TAWXLEY) is greatly appreciated. Please contact me at trendsa@bellsouth.net. Thanks.
