    1. Ezell brickwall in Lonoke County
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/648 Message Board Post: Hopefully, there is someone out there who can help me with this "brickwall" which I have been unable to get through: My Great-grandmother was Ruth Ezell born 1885, Lonoke County, AR to "Cleve" and Katie Ezell. Ruth had sisters Cynthia, Roxie, and Emma "Reedie". I believe that Ruth descended from a Native American. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If not, can anyone tell me where in Lonoke County I might find someone to help? Thanks so much

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/640.1 Message Board Post: The Lonoke County Museum and guests had a great time at our sixth birthday celebration. The fish was crisp and crunchy, the fellowship warm and friendly, and the weather was great. Ms. Ashley was there enjoying all as she sold more copies of her cookbook, Thirty Years at The Mansion. KK Kennedy and his guys were just great. The bluegrass group put together by Jim VonTungeln was outstanding. The Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church's Men's Chorus was for the sixth year in a row a crowd pleasing favorite. All politicans in attendance were introduced to the crowd that was in attendance. Everyone in attendance reported having a great time. Plans are already under way for the seventh birthday celebration.

Your very best bet to learn something is to contact Sherryl Miller in Lonoke. If you live close enough, she will make arrangements to meet you at the local library and assist you. If you do not, then I would suggest that you write Sherryl Miller at the Lonoke County Museum, PO Box 873, Lonoke, Ar. 72086. She will not do e-mail. Or you can phone her at 501-676-2496. Sherryl will go to the history commission in Little Rock to search if necessary. She will want an outline of what you are looking for, who it is, time frame, the county, etc. Sherryl will tell you where she looked, so you know that place has been searched. She does this strictly as a fund raiser. Sherryl will expect a donation to the museum building fund for her efforts. Sherryl has written at least three books and is highly regarded in this area. Good luck--- Linda T. Acrey Lonoke, Arkansas P. S. My mother was born at Keo too, just years later. That was considered a good area to be in at the time. It was all farming country and is not all that far from Little Rock.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/640 Message Board Post: Lonoke County Museum’s Sixth Birthday Celebration Fish Fry On Friday, April 16, 2004 the Lonoke County Museum will be celebrating its sixth birthday with a King Kat fish fry fundraiser. This will be held at Lonoke Primary between 5-7:00 with tickets being only $10. per adult and $6.00 per child. The tickets may be purchased at the door or from a LCM member. There will be an evening of musical entertainment to highlight the celebration. This year, the program of music will be varied so there is sure to be something to suit one and all. The K.K. Kennedy Kampground Express of Cabot, a group that specializes in easy listening instrumental music, will begin performing at 5:00. At 6:00, a bluegrass musical group, Free Spirit Bluegrass, will be featured singing and playing traditional bluegrass. At 6:30, the Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Men’s Chorus of Little Rock, Arkansas composed of over 35 men who sing for the pure joy of it will be featured performers. Many of these men grew up in Lonoke County and return each March to offer support for LCM. They will close the evening and lift your spirits with their rich resounding voices singing praises to the Lord. Ms. Liza Ashley, one of Lonoke County’s favorite authors will once again be in attendance. Ms. Ashley a native of Pettus was employed as the cook for six Arkansas governors at the Governor’s mansion. She will be on hand to autograph and sell copies of her highly regarded cookbook, Thirty Years at the Mansion. No better Southern tried and true recipes are to be found! Numerous displays relating to different facets of the Lonoke County history will be on public view. Door prizes will be given so come early and be sure to register for all. A purple and white afghan will be raffled off that evening. Linda Acrey, spokesperson for the Museum stated, “Please consider this your personal invitation to attend our birthday celebration. We are looking forward to a truly nice event with the feeling of a southern homecoming. If you missed it last year, do not miss out this year. Everyone is welcome so feel free to bring all the kinfolks and join us for a wonderful evening. Please help us in the preservation of Lonoke County’s diverse history. Y’all come!” As this is an election year, politicians are cordially invited to be in attendance at the fundraiser. For additional information regarding the Lonoke County Museum, the fish fry, or its projects please phone Sheryl Miller at 676-2496, or during the day, 676-6635. Written by: Linda T. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VV.2ADI/616.2.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello Alfred, There are 2 listings for what you might be looking for. (these names are one and the same cemtery) Eaglerest Cemetery in on the old Eagle plantation property now owed by Mr. George Howell at the end of Eaglerest Rd. 1 mile east of Arkansas Hwy. 15, south on US 70 This is probably a black cemetery. Although the gate may be closed it is generally unlocked and should be closed before and after you open it. Eaglerest Rd is a dirt farm road. After you enter the farm, go .4 tenths of a mile to turn off across a culvert to the left. Proceed another .6 tenths of a mile to the cemetery, which cannot be generally seen from the road. The cemetery is on your right in some trees, and is in bad shape. Ocer grown with weeds and vines, watch for snakes. The cememtery was inventoried on the 18th March 1995 by Tom Martinet. There are many unmarked graves and possibly other marked graves in the tall brush and vines. It is believed by Mr. Howell that this cemetery was probably a slave cemetery for the original plantation. The Green Olive Cemetery is possibly another slave cemetery on the same farm. There is no Johnson listed in this cemetery. Just the following names: Elbert Brewer Charlie Brown Era Griffin baby Griffin girl Lewis Pickens Shley, no first name known James Simpkins Mary Widemon I I looked up in the Index for Binnie V Johnson and found no name listed as that. I did find a Charles and Donia at the Lonoake City Cemetery There listed as follows: Charlie L. Litton h/o Donia Duggar Litton sec E row 1 grave 1 (Birth) 22 Oct 1867- (Death) 2 Dec 1952 Donia Duggar Litton w/o Charlie L. Litton sec E row 1 grave 2 (Birth) 2 Dec 1869 - (Death) 1 Feb 1925 Charles L Litton s/o Charlie & Donia Sec E row 1 grave 3 (Birth) 17 Oct 1895- (Death) 14 Sep 1900 Elsie Litton d/o Charlie & Donia Litton sec E row 5 grave 2 (Birth) 1 Apr 1900-(Death) 31 May 1901 James D. Litton (Plot Owner Charles Litton) sec E Row 5 grave 1 (Birth) 8 Jul 1908-(Death) 20 Aug 1912 This is all I have been able to find. Hope this helps. Laura
