Miss Lata: Informed descendants of Confederate soldiers, myself included, prefer the proper title "War Between the States" instead of the factually incorrect "Civil War". You are an influential voice in the world of genealogy and I ask you to ponder this. Regards, and keep up the good work. Wm. Well, I checked the cemetery book for Mulberry which is the cemetery most folks at England use, and he is not there. If you need a research person in Arkansas, especially Lonoke County, I would suggest that you write Sherryl Miller at the Lonoke County Museum, PO Box 873, Lonoke, Ar. 72086. If you live in the nearby area, you might could arrange to meet her at the McCrary Regional Library where she is employed and get her to assist you Unless you happen to stumble on a long lost cousin or a close relative of these folks, this may be your best bet. Or you can phone her at home at 501-676-2496. Sherryl will go to the history commission in Little Rock to search if necessary. Sherryl will want an outline of what you are looking for, who it is, time frame, the county, etc. Sherryl will tell you where she looked, so you know that place has been searched. Sherryl will expect a donation to the museum building fund for her efforts. She does this strictly as a fund raiser. Sherryl has written at least three books and is highly regarded in this area. She has helped many people including myself over the past five or six years. Good luck--- Linda T. Acrey Lonoke, Arkansas 25 miles east of Little Rock in central Arkansas

They are found in Clarksville and Nashville Tennessee primarily but show up in Lonoke land records. Any connection and/or info from anyone else out there? Delighted to exchange info if you see a connection.

If you would like the name of a lady who does research, I can provide it. She is Sherryl Miller. She has written three books and is highly respected in this area. She will want a donation to the local museum building fund for her efforts. Lonoke County does not have a museum building as such, though it has a rich history and this is just her way of helping out as she also learns the history of the county. Sherryl will go to Little Rock to the History Commission to search if necessay. She will probably be your best bet on finding something in this area, unless you are able to come and search yourself. Then if you are able, you can make arrangements and she will meet you at the local library where she works part time. Sherryl has helped lots of folks all over the United States and even me. She found some stuff for me just after Christmas. Good luck! Linda

There is a big cemetery at Little Rock filled with Union dead. The Confederates are in another area from them. There was actually a real battle at Brownsville in August of 1863. My understanding is there were interactions between the Union and Confederacy all over this area. Do you have any info on what he was doing at the time he was killed? What group was he serving with? Was he carrying a payroll by chance???? There is a big Civil War cemetery just north of what is left of Brownsville. If you have not already, I would think you might want to read earlier in the Lonoke County web site where I suggested Sherryl Miller to an individual. She actually is your best bet having helped folks from all over. Everything is stirctly on the up and up. Do you happen to know in which area of Lonoke County she was born in? That is a big clue as to what kind of work her dad Cleve was doing, the cemetery someone may be buried in, etc. I checked the Mulberry Cemetery book and there is only one Ezell listed in it. Some other old cemeteries are Union Valley, Tomberlin, and Weeden. Lonoke County at the time she was born here, was considered one of the better places in the state to be. As far as being Indian, unless someone happened to sign up for the Indian roll a long time ago, you may be out of luck on that. Lots of folks in this area say such, but proving it is another thing. No one doubts it, but folks just for the most part back at those times, avoided anything that looked like government. There is a man named Ezell who is Mr. Civil War in this area who posts frequently in the Arkansas Civil War web site. His dad was a preacher and he still works for the state, I believe. Good luck, Linda
