Surnames: Cummins, Cummings Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADI/321 Message Board Post: I am searching for other Cummins/Cummings families that settled in the Lonoke Co., AR area sometime around the 1870's, 80's and 90's. My great grandfather was Daniel Jackson Cummins b. @ 1860, who married Alpharetta E. Oliver in De Soto Co., MS in 1878. He was the son of Daniel H. Cummins and Martha Whitfield from AL. Daniel H. died in the Civil War and Martha and the children lived in Marshall Co., MS on the 1870 Census. I believed they might have lived in Holly Springs, MS. Daniel J. had several brothers and sisters and I understand some of them also moved to the Little Rock area. Not sure of the exact dates of birth as the age on the Census changed drastically each year. The name also varied from Cummins to Cummings. Children of Daniel H. and Martha Cummins were: John B. b. 1848; Emily b. 1849; Joseph b. 1851 and married Delilah Utley; William C. b. 1852; David b. 1854; Elizabeth b. 1855; Bartley M. b. 1857; Sarah b. 1859; Martha 1861 and Lucinda b. 1862. Would love to hear from other Cummins or Cummings who have ancestors in the Little Rock area. Lynn Kansas City
