Anyone can spell either of their names anyway they choose to which can drive researchers nuts. I have seven different spellings for one branch of my family. A name that has fascinated me in western Arkansas is the name Pleasant for a male. I have been told it is a "Quaker" name, but I am unaware of many if any Quakers in the Scott/Logan County area.
The migrations that interested me on Quakers started in PA, then to VA/NC circa 1765, then to TN,AL & GA. By the time the families got to TN there weren't any Quakers in the family but we can only guess that a popular name was handed down from that era. There are some things that your best S.W.A.G. is all you will have. It may be just as true that someone had a neighbor by that name that they admired and they used his name and how will we know if that person had Quaker heritage.
