A few years back I contacted my local legislator about the Sanatorium and how to obtain records on patients. I was told that some records do exist. Lanelle Christie of Booneville advised that she does not have all records because, prior to the closure of the Sanatorium in the 70's, some records on patients dead 10 or more years had been destroyed. Also, a fire at the Sanatorium in the 30's destroyed many of the records. To obtain this information, a release of information from the next of kin is required and must include the deceased's name, date of birth, and date of death (if known).
