i have not checked OK deaths...where do you do that? also...i just learned today....one reason we are having a very difficult finding out where my great grandma was born etc ..and anything about our Uncle Lou..is because he was born on a indian reservation!!!!!!! it is mixed opinions as to what tribe..we were told we are choctaw on that side of the family...STewarts and cherokee from the Workman's.... Louis Stewart was born in Logan County AR....but where was a indian reservation>??? we have no idea.....the family back then did NOT talk about their indian heritage....it is so obvious they are indian...our great uncle and grandma...as well as us....high cheekbones etc.....so where would one look in the Logan County AR area for a indian reservation? no one has any idea where Eldora was born..they both were married in Indian Territory Lefore County, but no maiden name on Eldora's marriage records..no age...on Louis, Yates is the maiden name..anyone have any clues as to where to begin to look for his birth place? or what reservations at that time were in Logan County area? any help is so appreciated thanks in advance Teressa
Theresa, Do you have the names and dates of these Indian relatives? I have a cd from the Indian Archives. Maybe something will show up. LeFlore County Oklahoma or Indian Territory is a part of the Choctaw Nation. There is a great historical society in Poteau Oklahoma. Also, Indian information should be on file at the Indian Archives. Sharon in Oklahoma I too am looking for my Native Americans. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Teressa" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 27, 2002 7:33 PM Subject: Re: [ARLOGAN] Re: ARLOGAN-D Digest V02 #125 > i have not checked OK deaths...where do you do that? also...i just > learned today....one reason we are having a very difficult finding out > where my great grandma was born etc ..and anything about our Uncle > Lou..is because he was born on a indian reservation!!!!!!! it is mixed > opinions as to what tribe..we were told we are choctaw on that side of > the family...STewarts and cherokee from the Workman's.... > Louis Stewart was born in Logan County AR....but where was a indian > reservation>??? we have no idea.....the family back then did NOT talk > about their indian heritage....it is so obvious they are indian...our > great uncle and grandma...as well as us....high cheekbones etc.....so > where would one look in the Logan County AR area for a indian > reservation? no one has any idea where Eldora was born..they both were > married in Indian Territory Lefore County, but no maiden name on > Eldora's marriage records..no age...on Louis, Yates is the maiden > name..anyone have any clues as to where to begin to look for his birth > place? or what reservations at that time were in Logan County area? > any help is so appreciated > thanks in advance > Teressa > > > ==== ARLOGAN Mailing List ==== > If you wish to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the > Logan Co., AR list, use > [email protected] or > [email protected] if > you are on the Digest list. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
