Well, you confirmed that this couldn't be my Evans because he was born in 1850 in Tenn although I think, in the 1880 census, he thought he was born in Arkansas. His father was born in NC and his mother Kentucky. He was 30, in 1880, and was yet unmarried. His name was Wm. Pinkney Evans. He went by the name of Pink or Pinkney. He is buried in Morgonton, Van Buren County; even tho I can't find his burial. My momma said he had a daughter, Nancy.
