This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cothran, White, Price Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kV.2ADE/1759 Message Board Post: AR, Ashley Co, Hamburg, Carter township 1870 I found two Cothran children living in the home of John H. White and Rachael his wife. By the 1880 the boy the eldest child William {Willy} is now living down the road with a lady named Cornelia D. Price either working for her as a carpenter while living as a boarder in her home or he is interested in her 14 year old daughter as a possible wife later on. In any event.......................................................... These children are the Grandchildren of John H. White and Rachael his wife. Their Mother having been their eldest daughter Mary Ann White. This family was also in Benton Co., AL in 1850 I have them on the US Census there that year with Mary Ann still living at home. She married in that place, Edward A. Cothran Sept. 25, 1851 in the old Benton Co. Marriage book in the Calhoun Co. AL. Ct. House. I hold a copy of that marraige record. I wish to contact anyone who is related to these folks. Oh John H. White is buried in Logan Co. AR in the Ellsworth Cemetery there. In fact there are several folks named White buried there along with three people named Cothran. Please contact me. I have added this board to my Notifications lists. I can prove my line, I have copies of all the documentation and I carry the Cothran line back to 1704. VA. Thanks, Gail
Gail, Your John H. White is not buried in Ellsworth Cemetery. The one buried there is too young to be yours. White, John H. Born: 06-12-1867 Died: 01-08-1952 Spouse #1 Addie (Raney); Spouse #2 Willie F. (Horne) Raney; son of Berry Hillsman and Sarah Malinda (Chitwood) White [The Ellsworth Cemetery book says that Addie had been married previously to a Raney. I can find no evidence that this is correct. Willie had been married to Abb Raney in 1893; she married John H. White in 1898. John H. was run over and killed by a car in Oklahoma City, OK.] These are my relatives. Who were John H. Whites parents? does you research go back further than John H. White yet? My John H. White had a housefull of sons, is it possible that one of them was your John H. White's Father? I mean since your John H. White is so much younger than mine that is. Thanks for all of your kindness and help with this. Researching in AR is new to me.
