Surnames: McArthur, Aldridge, Maberry, Pryor Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kV.2ADE/1875 Message Board Post: Hi... I'm researching my Great Aunt, Letha Seola Aldridge's first husband, James McArthur, married sometime in the early 1900s. I "think" she met and married him in Logan Co. I'm not sure how long they were married or if they stayed in Arkansas. I'm pretty sure James was in the Military. He and Letha had a daughter named Dorothy. Letha later married Oscar L. Maberry. Letha, Oscar and Dorothy moved to Colorado at some point. All 3 died there in Arapahoe County. Dorothy married Wm. Pryor, had one son and died in the 1960's. For some reason, the only marriage listing I can find (from Logan County) uses Oscar's first name and James' last name. O.O Ringing any bells?

    3. Hi Neosha: I am a Needham only by marriage. My "connection" with Logan county is actually through my now deceased husband's first wife (also deceased) Pat Suggs. Her mother was a Watson from Logan Co., Caulksville area. I am doing genealogy for his children and grandchildren. My deceased husband's father and family was from Tennessee, so far as I have been able to ascertain. That doesn't mean that some relatives didn't get to Logan, but that isn't where my hubby met his first wife. Both of their families had migrated to California in the 1940s. If you would like more information to figure out if there is a connection, let me know. I'd be happy to share. The second was born in Jan. 1852, also in Germany. I would guess that the first died before the second was born, since names were reused if a child died. So the second Katherine would be the one listed on the 1870 census as being 18.

It sure sounds like the Etzkorn's I am looking for. The 1880 census from Logan County Arkansas does show a twenty -five year Catherine living the family. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/5519/kV.2ADE/1661.1.2.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I think your John & Mary Etzkorn are listed as Ludwig & Maria Etzkaume in the 1870 census as living in Madison Cty, IL. Ludwig & Maria Anna Marscher had six children. The first two were both named Katharine and were born 29 April 1850 (died 1852) and 15 Jan. 1852 in Ettlingen. The others were born in IL and were August, William, John & Joseph. The five living children appear on the 1870 census. Ludwig is person #366 in the Etzkorn book. He was the son of Phillip Jakob Etzkorn (9 May 1789) and Maria Elisabeth Schmitt (28 August 1792). Both were born in Forst. Baptismal records are available on FHC microfilm #1051236, 1-5. Or am I way off base with thinking John is Ludwig J?

The only information I have on him and his family is that he was born in Tennessee or Mississippi; his son Edmund Biddle died in Kerr County, TX in 1906. His wife was Mary Jane Tabler, born in Mississippi, and also on your list as having died in 1890. This is second hand family information, just so you know. There is nothing to be relied upon here. I haven't researched that line enough to be able to tell you more at this point. So far as I know, this family always had an S at the end of the name. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Diana
