There is a small archives in Washington, Arkansas and they have a book on the McElroy family. My McElroy was Dorcus who married Richard Clements in Sumter Co. Alabama and moved to Logan Co. Arkansas after the War between the States to Arkansas. They are buried at Wares Chapel. The McElroy family that she was a member of has been researched. Go on Rootweb.com and perhaps someone has connected these families. Surely if there was one McElroy in the county they all must have been related in some way. Contact me privately and I will try to help you. I have found that family traveled with family. If Logan Co. painted a family tree on one of its building so many people would go back to the same ancestor. shelia ----- Original Message ----- From: <trifftruff@yahoo.com> To: <ARLOGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 20, 2006 4:31 AM Subject: [ARLOGAN] names of parents of George W. Hello! Sorry it took me so long to respond... My aunt, Claudine Scharbor is the head of the cemetery association that takes care of Lick Creek. Can you tell me a bit more about what you want to (know name of your ancestor, for instance), I'll do the best I can to find out... If the grave is marked I can probably take a photo and e-mail it if you'd like... no promises about length of time or quality of photo, but I'll do what I can.. You can e-mail me directly if you have info you either want kept private or don't feel it's of general interest to the list. My Great Grandparents died in 1935 and 1947 and are buried in Old Bokoshe Cemetery in LeFlore County. There is no record of either death with the State of OK and no funeral home records that I can find. -------Original Message------- From: Flynn and Jo Ellen Date: 11/08/06 14:22:56 To: ARLOGAN@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARLOGAN] Mystery of Death and Burial Thanks to a lot of dedicated genealogists, DNA testing, the Internet, and various list serves, I have traced my lineage to a southern Fuller line all the way back to the 1650s. However, the death of my grandfather (of Arkansas and Oklahoma) at a fairly young age (around 27) still is a mystery. Before Austin Anderson Fuller died, he married (Maudie Jane McClain) and they had four children (my father, Otto Fuller, being one of the four). Family oral history tells that Austin died of pneumonia but it was also a time of the Spanish Flu so that could have been a possibility. However, when my grandmother was questioned about the past, she just said it was nobodys business! Was she hiding something or was she just a private person? The last record I find of Austin Fuller is on his WWI Draft Registration card (Anderson Austin Fuller). He is listed as working at the Black Fork Lumber Co. in Zee (Zoe), LeFlore, Oklahoma. But by the 1920 census, his wife is listed as a widow living with her four children and her mother in Housten Leflore Oklahoma. So, it would seem that he probably died in Leflore Co., Oklahoma around 1918 or 1919. However, the State of Oklahoma did a search in all counties for the years 1908-1929 and found no certificate of death for Austin Fuller. Also, a kind Poteau Valley Genealogy Society member searched for me and found nothing on Austin Fullers death in Scott Co., Arkansas or Leflore Co., Oklahoma. I thought, perhaps his widow buried his body where both of his parents were buried but I found no record of him being there (Gipson Cemetery Scott Arkansas). Then, I thought perhaps, his widow buried him where her father was buried (Thompson Cemetery Scott Arkansas) but found no record of him there either. Known Facts about Austin Anderson Fuller: Dec., 1891 born in Polk or Scott County, Arkansas 1900 Census listed as Austin A. Fuller living in Lafayette and Cauthron, Scott Arkansas 1910 census listed as A.A. Fuller living in LaFayette Scott Arkansas April 1912 married Maudie Jane McClain in Scott Arkansas 1913 first child born Arkansas 1914 second child born Arkansas 1917 third child born Stapp, Oklahoma 1917 living and working in Leflore Oklahoma 1918 fourth child born Oklahoma by 1920 wife was a widow or so she claimed on the 1920 census Housten Leflore Oklahoma! Where, oh, where is Austin? Did people ever just bury a body with no official notice? Is it possible, he ran away? Ah, a mystery to be solved. Any help would be most appreciated, as none of my remaining living relatives seem to know the answer.
