I am still trying to understand the last child of Reuben. WorldConnect states he died in 1865; but, his wife died in 1861. So who was the mother of the baby in 1864 - did he remarry, or did his wife die in child birth in 1864. I did located Arabell and Tobert in another household; clearly both parents were gone by this time. I am not sure of the relationship of this family to your Reuben. Will work some more on it tonight; I am sure you have most of the information already; I have linked the census information; household number; persons in household; and what ever other information is noted on Ancestry, e.g. Draft Cards; Land Grants, etc. Was there a reason that John, Jr. and two of his brothers went to Kansas and are in the 1865 State Census? I see most of the rest of this family went into Texas or Oklahoma. Will leave another post with what I have found, I am sure you have most of it, yet I may have found another titbit you may not have. Please contact me if you have some Scott relatives. I see you mentioned Hiram nd Peter. Were they Hiram and Peter Scott? You seem to mention a Martha and W. S. Scott also. Please contact me about them. It would be helpful if one of the posters would change the "Subject" line in the postings to reflect the surnames being discussed. My DAR ancestor is William Tomlinson, B 27 March 1749. He was married to Martha Coppock and he died in 1813 in North Carolina. William's son Joseph Tomlinson (B. 1772) and family moved to Indiana and Joseph died in Indiana in 1820. Joseph's son John Tomlinson (B 1801) and family moved to Arkansas before 1850. In your 1850 census, the John Tomlinson in Spadra, Johnson, AR B. Abt. 1801 is the father of my Reuben. Reuben would not have been living at home in 1850 because I found both John and Reuben in the 1860 Scott County, AR census listed separately and with their name spelled Tumlinson. In this 1860 census, Reuben had a son born in 1847 so he would have been married and on his own for the 1850 census. That's where I lose track of him. I have most of info I think I need to join the DAR before Reuben and after him but I have very little on him. I do have the land records from 1860 showing my Reuben owned property in Clarksville, AR. Reuben marri! ed Matilda A. Johnson prior to 1847 but I can't find records establishing place and date. I really do appreciate your help. I haven't done much with my family research lately either. I descend from Reuben's son W.S. Some call him Wiley or Wally. His grave marker simply says W.S. I am trying to join the DAR so I need to tie my generations together back to our Revolutionary War ancestor, William Tomlinson. (B 27 March 1749, married to Martha Coppock) Reuben's family is proving to be a real challenge. I have an 1860 census with his family in Scott County, AR and an index to land reords in Clarksville, AR in 1860. I also have heard that he served in the Civil War on the Union side. Also have heard he might have been a preacher and that he was shot by bushwhackers on the day peace was declared. But I can't find any documentation on his marriage, his death or his service in the civil war. I am happy to share with you any info I have. Think I need to spend some time at the library. I live close to Dallas and their library is supposed to big on Genealogy. I look forward to hearing from you again. Author: gruhastie Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.logan/3387/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for information about Israel BELL and his descendants. Israel was born in Pennsylvania where he married Julia Ann Snider. They migrated to Iowa and then settled in Logan Co, Arkansas in the 1890s - in Bear Wallow Twp. Israel died in in Logan County in 1914. I am looking for a death date for his wife Julia and possibly burial site. John BELL married a woman named Amanda (Mandie?). They were the parents of John, George, Sadie, Julia and Mande. I would be grateful if anyone could tell the name of John's wife and provide birthdates for the children. Thanks very much. Hi Verna: Asenath Cinda Bledsoe was born in 1827, Perry County Alabama to Moses Bledsoe and Mary " Polly" Turner. She was the last of eight children. Her mother died when she was seven. Her father, a Justice of the Peace, remarried Lucy Ann Bolling, who raised the family children. We have followed the Bledsoe/Bletsoe name back to 1601 England, and find no evidence of Indian Heritage, however...I do have a picture of Asenath who appears tall, slender, with coal black hair pulled back in the traditional style. Her features include high cheekbones, and what appears to be an olive complexion, so???? there may be a heritage, that although not Indian , might have some of the same features. The name Asenath, according to my great grandmother, ( her daughter-in-law) was a stylish and popular name...if the child was not being named for the family. There were none before her, that we know of, that carried her name but many that came after did. I had a great aunt by that first name. My Aunt Catherine would refer to her Aunt Asenie. They lived in Branch, Franklin County. I had heard it was an Apache name, but they were not Apache.
