Ann, No evidence he was in the military service or registered. He died of Tuberculosis (TB), as sent home to die. I have a copy of the letter sent to his wife dated 7 Feb 1931. Ref: 29 Aug 2005 - W C Morgan, father of R L Morgan) William Potum Morgan died young at home lying down after coughing up lung tissue outside of the back door at the Booneville home. Children were at home. Potum is Latin meaning to drink. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

My Dad, Bill Morgan, pointed out a small rock by a tree as being the burial place in May 1997. So wondered if any evidence could established the actual place. Thanks Ann, Richard L Morgan of Cin. OH ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Richard, and anyone else that might be interested in this fact: if someone served in the military, the local VFW group should have the grave not only listed, but marked on a map. They use it to put out flags at this time of year. If you don't hear from someone with a listing of this name, I can stop by and check the older area of the cemetery the next trip I make to Booneville. I've done many years of putting out the flags at that cemetery while growing up. Ann Garner At 04:23 PM 5/23/2007, you wrote: >I would like to know where my grandfather is buried. Excellent question! Actually, there is a contact person (unfortunately, I'm not sure offhand whom), you don't often hear the term Sexton in this area, but I digress... The reason for showing plots by owner and not interment has to do with the fact that many of these small cemeteries are filling up, and some of them allow plots to be reserved for future use. I know this because I have an uncle buried at Oak Hill, and my aunt told me she has some additional plots besides her own. I'm not sure if they were purchased or what... So... in order to keep straight on what land is available, the "owners" are specified. Oak Hill by the way, is pretty central to Booneville, I grew up about a quarter mile away in a fairly new development that backs up to the land. It's convenient for Booneville residents, and it's pretty good sized. I should also point out that it's not a "churchyard" type cemetery, it's more of a municipal thing, although, again, I'm not sure precisely who is in charge. You can find some interment info on "findagrave.com" and you can request a photo of a headstone if there is a volunteer working that cemetery. Hope that explains it a bit! I have a listing for Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville. I copied it several years ago at the Fort Smith library. Whom are you looking for? I'll check my list. As for Sextons and contact persons, you obviously don't know much about our cemeteries. If the cemetery is lucky, there is an association that sort of acts as a governing body, but records of burials are not kept in most instances. Sometimes there is an oldtimer who knows where people are buried, and sometimes there isn't. If the grave has no marker, not even a field stone, then the matter gets more complicated. If Oak Hill Cemetery is now listing by owner, that is news to me. Does anyone know anything more about this? Burial plots are often sold/and or reserved in our cemeteries. This is done either by the individual who intends to be buried there or by a family with the intent of using plots for family members as they are needed. I think this is a fairly common practice all over the United States, not just in Northwest Arkansas. Hope this helps. I have figured out more on the connecting families as well but with my data in shamble like it is I need to concentrate on Samuel Williams until that can get posted correctly. Any help on any of these connecting families would be most appreciated. So much is in my head right now. Thanks. Sue
I failed to give parents names of Jane Gilbreath: Hi: She is the daughter I think of Hugh and Rachel Gilbreath of Johnson Co AR. You will find my Samuel Williams in 1840 in Johnson County AR and not Hemstead County AR. This was brought to my attention by a decendent of Jane Gilbreath. Any help on this new wife would be most appreciated.
Seeking information on Jane Gilbreath who married Samuel Williams. It appears that my great grandfather Samuel Williams born abt 1807 NC vs TN had a second wife I didn't know about. #1 wife Sarah Kitchen #2 wife Jane Gilbreath #3 wife my Obedience Claywell Waldrup If anyone out there knows anything about this Jane Gilbreath or any of the above I would really appreciate it. With a name like Williams it really is difficult. Regards, Sue
