Maybe some one can help me? My GrGrandfather was Charles Cooper-DeHart born 1887 Oct in Indian Territory. It is said that John William DeHart (i have copie paper work) adopted him1892 in McCalester Indian territory(oklahoma) because his father A.L.Cooper and mother Elizabeth died ? flue,i believe they were well aquented and probably lived either in Sebastian County, ark as Coal miners/farmers or maybe at that time John DeHart has one of his Merchantile Stores..I have what is told to me to be a picture of A.L.Cooper,only John (born 1864 Patrick co,virg)is the adopter,he married Elizabeth(delphia) Haynes born 1874 tn abt 1890 (where? maybe sebastian county, ark) but her name is not on paper, said they lived in Lelfore county,Wister, and had Coopers come over to visit, very weird story. Can any one help.Maybe A.L.Cooper did not die just her, post card to him from Colorado abt some land, abt that time line. COOPER b about 1850 AR... my gg grandfather was his brother Dillard L. COOPER, b about 1838 SC. I spent a lot of time tracking this line of Benson H. ...trying to answer some questions that a 'lost' COOPER in TX has about his ancestors and we thought he might be looking for Willie's and Picola's family. Your Willy COOPER was William H.W. COOPER born I show Oct 31 1882 in Arkansas to Benson H.COOPER and Mollie J. LAWSON (or WITHERS from a previous marriage. I show that Picola WILLIAMS was born about 1885 in Logan Co AR, and she and Willy had 2 kids: Carl D. COOPER b 1905 Logan Co AR and Hoyl or Hoyle COOPER b 1907 Logan Co AR. (Does this sound right to you?) I have in my notes that I tracked Carl to California. (but that info must be saved upstairs on my desktop computer) Benson & Mollie went to Logan Co by 1900. My notes say Benson H. & Mollie and your Willy were on 1900 census in Petitjean, Logan Co AR, and in 1910, Willy and wife Picola and a Willy's brother Jeffie age 19 are in the household ..(Mollie must have died by then) Willy's WWI Draft Reg was in Muskogee, OK 306 Elmira residence, wife Mrs. Picka COOPER, he was before 1917 a locomotive engineer in Comance, DeLeon TX and as held that job in Muskogee, OK. In 1920, I show Willy with wife Picola and sons Carl and Hoyl in Comanche County, DeLeon, TX. Here is the Marriage I found: Arkansas Marriages, 1851-1900 Record about PICOLA WILLIAMS Name: WILLIE COOPER Spouse: PICOLA WILLIAMS Marriage Date: 14 Oct 1900 Coun ty: Logan State: AR More of the COOPER clan went to Logan Co, Booneville, AR and a couple years ago I took a chance and phoned one ..up in years. He said the family had gone to OK briefly and then returned to Logan County. Willie /Willy's father Benson H. COOPER ...who may have been called "Budd" as well as "Ben" (My mother remembers hearing about Ben) was born Feb 1850 AR and died May 19, 1921 Logan Co AR and is buried probably in Old Union Cemetery where his son Ollie and wife Elsie are buried. There is a DNA COOPER project and also a ton of research on this absolutely enormous COOPER family that very early was in VA, then the Carolinas, and our branch tracked back to (and beyond to earlier ancestors in England) David COOPER and a last wife named Elizabeth WILDER (we think) came out of Spartanburg, Thickety SC ...to eastern Arkansas ..about 1845. At least 3 brothers came to AR ..Benson G. COOPER who first went to Crittenden Co in 1845, then over to St Francis / Monroe County where he died ... and a Caleb and a William. Others on the line left a bit earlier ...like Benson G. COOPER's brother Dillard who married a Lucy FONDREN, went to Alabama, joined the Alabama Red Rovers and headed to TX to help fight the Mexicans during the TX War for independence from Mexico. That Dillard is written up in Texas history after getting captured at Goliad and managing to escape the massacre by the Mexican Army. My gg grandfather Dillard L. COOPER b about 1838 SC is no doubt named for his father's brother. Benson G. COOPER b 1811-13 SC and wife Delphia LINDSEY's children that I know about and that lived in / near Brinkley, Monroe Co AR were: Wylie / William H.W. COOPER 1882 AR George W. COOPER Sept 1884 AR Lonnie L. COOPER Mar 1888 AR Jeffie H. Feb 1890 AR Ernest E. June 1892 AR Ollie L. May 1895 Waldron AR, d Sept 1981 Logan CoAR Thomas Fred, Nov 1897 AR Otto, about 1900 Ollie L. COOPER b May 15 1895, d Sept 5 1981 Logan Co AR married about 1918 Elsie SLATEN b June 2 1898 MO, died 1986 Logan Co AR ...I show 5 children: Olerine R, Nellie, Doyle, Retha May and J.D. Lonnie L. COOPER (this the line of the man I called) was b Mar 1888 AR and married Bessie Lee HUNTER, and the son I called in Booneville was Lee Roy b 1926, Allen, OK. Jeffie H. COOPER b 1890 AR must have married or I picked up wrong data ...but I am showing that he went west and worked on trains and that he had two sons: Paul and Otto and that Otto died in Ft Worth, TX. I do not show Jeffie's wife. George W. COOPER b Sept 1884 AR married Lulu UNKNOWN b about 1885 AR, and they had two children I found: Estus about 1892 and Annie about 1915. I can share a lot more information with you ....especially on my own line of Dillard L. COOPER who mar #1 to Martha HELMS, then maybe to Henrietta Elizabeth ANDREWS / ANDERS MUNS, MARTIN ...who must have died (found her as COOPER in Monroe Co AR court records and Dillard signing as guardian of her minor MARTIN children) ...but I know for sure that in August 1876, Dillard L. COOPER married Henrietta's sister, Parthenia "Theny" ANDREWS / ANDERS, HOUSE, HOLMAN ...who had lost her HOUSE spouse in the Civil War and her HOLMAN / HOLMUN / HOLLEMAN spouse died 1873. (I have her old bible). Dillard L. COOPER and Parthenia's 1880 household can be found in Monroe Co, Brinkley AR ..a mix of his kids, her kids and some nephews ...MALOY and DICKERSON. Calvin DICKERSON was the son of Dillard's (and your Benson's) sister Cordelia who had married DICKERSON who died, then Joseph H. FRUEN / FRUIN .... You are better off emailing me (connect the spaces in this following address) audstan @ chartertn. net. You are better off emailing me (connect the spaces in this following address) audstan @ chartertn. net. All this is a long, long story because I have so much information ...please reply here or to above email. Hope to hear from you!
