    2. Ann, There is a book, and over the years I have purchased a few for me and family. You can, if they still have them on hand, at the Booneville library titled: Logan County Arkansas - It's History and It's People It is an exceptional hardcover book, where persons submitted articles and family history to the Logan County Historical Society that printed 1,500 copies published in 1987. There had been talk about updating or publishing a later updated volume. It has many photos and a complete index with detailed history at the front of the book about communities, followed by Family Histories. Garner's start on page 172 and on to 176 - Headings by name are Bee Garner; Billy Wayne Garner; Charley Garner; D. Roger Garner; David Thomas Garner; Deffie May Garner; Dixon Garner; James A. Garner; James L Garner; another James L Garner; Lillie Maud Jones Oliver Garner; Luna "Tootie" Garner; Otto Garner; Pleasant 'Pleas' Allen Garner; Pleasant 'Uncle Buddy' Andrew Garner; Samuel Garner; Vexter Garner; Warner Garner; Wyatt Garner; Wyatt Franklin Garner. Most of the articles was submitted by Bill Garner, and possibly 5 from others. I had read sometime ago about a type of History group with a place on Main Street in Booneville. (Highway 10?) It maybe the same group as those publishing the book, but seemed they had a different objective. All the best, Richard **************Worried about job security? I seem to recall the Booneville high school library had a book about the founder of Booneville, and I never did read the book while in school. The Arkansas history books had only a few chapters on Logan County. I'm hoping the county was interesting enough through the years for a book to be written about it. This is an attempt to start a "sister-site" to the successful "Down on Dutch Creek" site that Peggy Jokuti started last year at this time for Scott and Yell counties.. I am using part of her post since my intent is identical with the focus on the locale just North of her area. She & Barbara Reynolds are admins on this new site. They have been extremely helpful to me. I have been adding some of the information that I have collected and would like to invite anyone interested to post their information as well. My primary family lines in Yell, Logan, Perry, Pope and Johnson Counties are George, McVay, Robinson, Jennings, Powers, Ringer, Bezzo, Moore and Hall. The site requires an invitation, so if you are interested, please send me an email with your name and email address to raysextonjr at yahoo.com and I will send you an invitation. 2. Yes, your information about the Neumeiers is correct.? My parents E. A. and Eva Izell were good friends of Joe and Mary.? They even visited our home in Muskogee Oklahoma once when they were on a trip back to Paris.? Joe and my Dad worked in the coal mines together.? I met the older neumeiers once when I was with my parents going through Paris--where I was born. Several years ago I sent several pictures of the Neumeiers to one of their descendants but don't remember who.? I had always believed that the Raulston's were a handsome family but I had not seen Aunt Pearl Raulston Hawkins as a young girl. I had heard she was a knock out (according to my Dad, Aunts & Uncles, she had moved to another state before I was a twinkle in my Dad's eye so I never met her or any of her descendents). She really WAS beautiful. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your replies to my query and the wonderful picture that even includes Sparlin Bowman who married Nettie Raulston. I had thought that the girl beside Nettie was Aunt Mattie Raulston (who married George Bowman) but I guess it wasn't. Thank you so very, very much. 1. [ARLOGAN] Narcissa Hurt & Daughter, Amanda J. Nixon
    2. Shirley, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Thank you for the material about Matilda Hurt Wiley. Well, the 1870 census records do seem to be confusing. As we know that Jane Hurt (even written "Hert") was Narcissa's mother it does seem certain that the Tumbleston Twp, Scott Co census is correct. We have a small autograph book that belonged to Narcissa's daughter, Amanda. It has several signatures that I have been researching. The dates it the book seem to be from about 1884 to about 1906, There is one I think I have identified as a Hurt. This one started "Dear Auntie" and is signed "your loving niece, Ethel"; It is dated Dec 18 1906. I think Ethel might be the daughter of Thomas Benton Hurt and wife, Mary Glass. One starts, "Aunt Manda" and is signed just "Esther" Do you have any idea who this might be? Some are plainly Nixons: Bertha Nixon 1901 identified as "Dear Cousin" "from Indian Territory" J. E. Nixon (does not identify relationship) W. H. Nixon (date 1884 but no relationship) "Your Auntie, Mary A. Nixon" Emma Nixon (no identification) More later, Nona **************Inauguration '09: Get complete coverage from the nation's capital.(http://www.aol.com?ncid=emlcntaolcom00000027)

    3. Nona, Thank you for the information but after looking over my census records I'm a little confused. You have Narcissa Hurt born 1845 MO list with her family in 1860. In 1870 Narcissa Nixon is listed Carroll Co. Crooked Creek Twp with daughter A. J. Nixon 5 years old. I have in 1870 Jane Hurt, listed as Hert in Scott Co. AR census with daughter Narcissa, 26, born abt 1844 in MO,, listed a Warcissus but looks like Narcissa on the original image, living with her family. My Matilda Hurt Wiley is also listed in the 1870 census, Scott Co. but the father, Zaccheus Hurt was dead by then. Maybe you can shed some light on this It's late so I'm going to look over some more records and I will send you Matilda Hurts line over the weekend.
