Dear Melinda, Good morning. I have now found out another culprit in my family tree. I wish I could ask either of my parents on this, but they are both long since dead. I'm sure my Mother would have known as the Hixson name was in her tree. As I mentioned in re: to my Grandfather (Mama's Father), her whole family was VERY loyal to Grandpa, and I never even found this out about him till I met a 2nd cousin a number of years after Mama had died. So, I'm sure she would have been the same with Matt Hixson. I sure hope you find out the info. If you do, keep my e-mail address and let me know so I can put it down in my tree info. It is frustrating when you can't find out the info. in your genealogy. Do be encouraged, as, for 5 or 6 years, I looked and looked for info. on my Mother's first husband, who had been very mean to her, and left her to take care of their little boy, who later died at 18 months of Pneumonia. I finally was able to find a nice lady in OK. who had some relation who she said couldn't be more like this man, and we matched info. and it was him, so don't give up; someday, someone will come along who has the exact info. for you. VERY good luck to you. Allene
Allene, Thats my Matt Hixson who married Belila. The story goes that he was the father of Elizabeth and Joseph Hixson both who were born to supposedly a indian woman. His other two children were Grace and Matt Jr. Maybe your father would know who was the indian woman was? Or even maybe a clue. I have been trying to find out who Elizabeth mother was for 3 years now. My family out here can`t remember who her father was so all the information I have gotten from are from people who are researching them, so any onformation would be greatly appeciated......................Melinda ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 24, 2002 7:49 PM Subject: Re: [ARLOGAN] Roll Call-Hixon > Hi, Melinda, > The only info. Hi, Melinda, The only info. I could find was on a respectable businessman, Matt Hixson; however, my dear Grandpa (who I never met,) I found out from a newly found 2nd cousin that he had been going to what they used to call 'cat houses', and ended up with Syphylis and died from that at only 43 years old. So------you never know about persons who appear respectable. This could have been the one. He was married to Belilah Sadler, and I can look up dates if you think this sounds like the one. Hope I can help. Allene

Bill, I do not show a marriage record for 1877-1924. However this book does not have all marriages in it. I am looking for a marriage record for Charlotte "Lottie" Jamison and Ferris S. Watson or Samuel T. Watson. I found a record for her marriage to Ferris S. Watson on FamilySearch for 19 Nov 1899 in Franklin County Arkansas. In the 1900 Census for Logan County, Arkansas, Six Mile Township page 182A. 9 June 1900. Listed Watson, Charlotte, born June 1872 in Arkansas, age 27 - Watson, Samuel T., born Feb 1872 in Tennessee, age 28 , Farmer, married 0 years. Either she remarried or Ferris and Samuel are the same person - I guess the FamilySearch record could be wrong also. Thank you for your time and help. Bill Jamison Clovis, CA
Hi Lynn and Amy, In response to Lynn and Amy concerning Consady Lee, my grt grandmother. Thanks for responding and I am hopeing the Census of Spadra twp in AR w/Richard L Smith 4yrs at the time is my grt grandfather. As to Consady, in our family we called her Consady, but in documents she spelled it Consada. I don't know where the name came from. My grandmother (Consada's daughter) told us her mother always said Martha Collier(Consada's mother) was the one with Indian blood. It could be. But we have yet to prove any documented Indian connections. Consada and John Wesley Shirley are on the Arkansas Lee site.Go the name index page. < www.angelfire.com/ak2/genealogy/ArkansasLees.html> and of course they are on the Shirley site <www.shirleyassociation.com>. I have pictures of Consada and she did have some Indian characteristics, but I have never seen a picture of Martha Collier. One family story has it there was also Indian blood farther back than Martha Collier in the Rains. But the only thing I have on that is family story and the Mark Trusty Letter hints at it? at the Arkansas Lees site. And that would have been Consada's grt grandmother? So, Lynn, you are descended from Anna Lee? I am very interested in her daughter Harriet's family. My Richard Lee Smith who m. Martha Jane McClure had a daughter named Harriette, sister to my grandmother on my mothers side(Minnie Missouri Smith), also from Logan Co area of AR. That's what I like about genealogy, there is always something new to investigate. Not to confuse things any further :) but I have an uncle who's paternal grandmother was Malinda Smith ( had a sister Sarah Jane Smith. Sylvester Smith is in there somewhere too. Sound familiar?) Just thought I'd check and see. Well I would like to hear from both of you again. Take care and Happy Hunting, Linda
