I have been looking for quite some time for the graves of Thomas and Saphronia Little. Could they possibly be in one of your books? Sheila: Do you have anything on Benjamin Gerelds/Geralds md Mary E. Stiles abt 1881 Logan County? Benjamin supposedly practiced dentistry and was tied in with Mary's father purchasing National Springs property for resale. Benjamin had 2 daughters by prior marriage. Nora (LuNora) married Samuel Muse, Logan County, Katie married in Muskogee area (Edward Jackson) Indian Territory. Benjamin had a sister named Sarah married to a John R. Pearson. They may have been in same area at some time or other. Would appreciate anything you can locate on this family. Betty (Benjamin was my maternal ggrandfather) Shelia Chumley <schumley@sport.rr.com> wrote: I have some books on Franklin County. At one time some of Logan was Franklin. Would it be possible for someone to lookup an obituary for DAVID G SPIRES, who died on 14 Dec 1914, lived in Short Mt. area, Logan Co. AR. Barbara Fazzolari
Would you have names of your John and Margaret's children? Our David in Logan County was born 1821/22 in TN. He was in Arkansas at least by 1847 as his oldest son, John, was born in Arkansas. Thank you for replying. Sara Barnett
I have a John Barnett from NC moved to Wayne Co Tennessee and then to Pope he was married to a Margaret Catherine Barnett. Probaby definitely same family. Love, Stacie Welcome-Inkel
Thank you, I know eventually the family will appear. Like you said that census really stops many from finding many connections and early family's. Thanks again for your help, let me know if I can return the favor with any of my other surnames. Brown, Gotcher, Brashear, Colbert, Fears, Messer, Brazier, Lovless (Lovelace), Crawford, Hale Jimmie Ryan
Thank you so, I know this may be imposing - I have been looking for Mattie (Martha) the child and wondered if she may be in the marriage record in Short Mountain. Maybe you might have a suggestion how I might find any records of her other then the 1880 census (since we have no 1890). Thank you once more for the prompt and reference information I requested. Jimmie Ryan
Becky: Do you know if there is a listing of Solomon Brown and Martha Susan Gotcher, would have been around 1879 or 1878 - they have a small daughter at Short Mountain, Logan Co. She is under one year in 1880. Jimmie Ryan
Your welcome. You would think that Mattie would be listed in this book because it goes to 1924 especially since she was born in 1879. Do you have a middle initial? OR maybe check the surrounding counties marriage records. There was a couple of Maggie's and then a few M.? initials. Hi, Sorry, but there was no Martha (Mattie) listed and unfortunately this book is not broke down by townships, so I don't know how to tell of anyone was from Short Mountain, unless it is listed. The burning of the 1890's census has screwed a lot of us up and made it almost impossible to go any further. I wish I did have some suggestions for you but I am so sorry, I don't have. I don't know if writing to the Logan County Court House would help or not. I do not live there and have no idea how helpful the clerks are. Sorry, wish I could have helped.
