It was my first post ever and to receive such a meaningful reply is terrific! Georgia Ann Craig Freeman and Calvin Lafayette Freeman were my great grandparents, as well. Their son, Ault Lafayette, was my grandfather, my father's father. I am one of the California Freemans, my father was born in Southern California. I knew all of his siblings but time has separated us. Be happy to work with you if you have any gaps to fill in that I might have the answers for. Any info on Ault's wife, Palace Ames, from Logan County, Arkansas? I can find a big zero about her. Does this make us cousins of some kind? I also found Ault and Palace in the 1910 and 1920 census: (see below). However the information about the states of birth of parents and themselves have been different on both of these and the 1930 census I sent earlier. So, I have no idea about that, I would assume it was the enumerators fault, but who knows. Also, I have the Logan County Marriage Book 1877-1924 and I did not find Ault and Palace's marriage information, so apparently they went to Oklahoma and got married this the 1910 census shows their 2 mo. Old son was born in Oklahoma, but that is just a guess. I have no idea if the ancestry shown is correct. As a minimum, you could order his death certificate from the state of California. Alt L. Freeman, Palace L. and a 16 year old daughter are in the 1930 census of Banning County, California. He was a carpenter and she was a housekeeper. You should be able to find basic information from his death certificate. The wife shows to have been born in Oklahoma and the daughter in California. There is an entry on OneWorldTree which says he died January 6, 1946 in Banning County, California. I have no idea if the ancestry shown is correct. As a minimum, you could order his death certificate from the state of California. Alt L. Freeman, Palace L. and a 16 year old daughter are in the 1930 census of Banning County, California. He was a carpenter and she was a housekeeper. You should be able to find basic information from his death certificate. The wife shows to have been born in Oklahoma and the daughter in California. Logan was once a part of Franklin. Roseville was not in Logan until 1874? So many of the early families were in the records of Franklin. At one time the death records of California were online. I do not know if they still are. I have looked in some of my Franklin Co. Ark., books and find many Freemans. I have probate books, marriage books and census records. I would be happy to copy any of this material for you if it would be of some help. I do not find them in Logan Co., and Its People. You could email the library in Paris and see if they have any record of this family. Hello! I am looking for any info on John W. Barnett. He was born in 1800 in NC. He is in the Tennessee Marriage database on Ancestry.com marrying Mary Coker on 27 Feb 1817. He is in the 1850 census in Knox County, TN with his wife Mary (b 1804 SC) and sons William P.(Patton?)(b 1843 TN), John (b 1845 TN), Richard (b 1847 TN), and Thomas (b 1849 TN). I can't find him in the 1860 census, but his 1860 land patent in Logan/Scott County, AR mentions that his wife was ill and he wasn't able to move onto the land. James A Ward signed for John W. John W. is in the 1870 and 1880 censuses for Logan County, AR and living with a wife Mary that is about 18 years younger than the Mary shown in the 1850 census in TN. Maybe the first Mary died of illness and he married another prior to 1870. I did find a marriage in the TN index on Ancestry for John W. to a Mary, but it was dated 1878... In the 1870 census living next door to John W. is Abraham Barnett (b 1825 TN), and kids Mary M. (b 1855 TN) and William B. (b 1828 MO). Perhaps Abraham is a son of John W.... I tracked Abraham to Wayne County, MO in the 1860 census (kids with him along with other kids Sarah (b 1847 TN), David (b 1848 TN), and Elizabeth (b 1851 TN) and no wife), but have not located him in the 1850 census. My ggg-grandfather David Barnett (b 1822 TN) shows up in the 1850 census in Scott County, AR with his wife Elizabeth (b 1830 KY) and kids John (b 1847 AR) and David (b 1849 AR). I have a 1846 marriage date for David and Elizabeth but not a location (TN? AR?). I believe David could be a son of John W. Barnett. David's parentage has been my Barnett brick wall and I'd love to break it down. Please let me know if you have any info on John W. Do you have a birthdate for either of these people? AMES, FREEMAN Could he have been listed as Lafayette Freeman? I find a Lafayette Freeman on the 1870 and on the 1900 census which should be him, but in both census he was married to a Georgia Ann ? The 1900 census shows they had 7 children. He was 21 on the 1870 census and she was 17, so is hard to believe he had another wife since he had her those 30 years. I do not find a Palace Ames anywhere. Saphronia was born in 1834 in TN, Thomas in 1830 in TN, both died before 1880. They homesteaded land on "Goose Island" in 1869, papers filed at the Dardanelle office.
