Thank you so much for this information. Interesting that you had the data that Thomas went by Thornton - the 1860 census listed him as Thornton. I thought it was a mistake, but apparently a nickname. I would love to see the photograph of Eugene, if at all possible. As I may have mentioned, I have looked for the family of his parents, William M. and Tabitha Jane Scarborough for years. All I knew was that they disappeared after 1870, until I recently found Eugene, Thomas, and Jesse living in Little River County Thank you again for all of your help. She thinks Thomas died 1920, her aunt told her that but she is long deceased. He is buried in the Alleene Cem next to Carrie. Carrie remarried to a George Weight who is also buried there. They had no children. Children of Carrie and Thomas (who went by Thorn or Thornton) were Callie Dealy 8/11/1903-8/26/1902, William Elford Thomas 3/8/1905-5/20/1905, Walter Melvin /21/1906-9/1/1909, Ceathel Dee(male) 8/11/1903-10/9/1909 and Tinie Lou Jane 2/7/1918-10/27/1923. These children are all buried in the Alleene Cem in unmarked graves. Walter Melvin and Ceathel Dee got in a fight with real guns. They shot each other, Walter died immediately, Ceathel lived another month before he died. My friend has a photo of Eugene W and his wife, Columbia with the kids if you are interested. She does not do the computer so it would have to be mailed to you. Rayedene Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: deeno Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.littleriver/1193.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Tim, Ancestry has the death index 1914-1950 but it is just an index. There are no Scarboroughs at all in the index for Little River Co. Since Eugene died in 1958, his death certificate should have his parents listed. There is someone on ancestry that has a tree on this family and they say mother was Tabitha Jane Cook. They also say the father of the girls on the 1900 census was Thomas. I can not find a marriage on Thomas or Jesse, the older girls in the census state born in TX. www.familysearch.org has the AR marriages and the TX death certificates where they can be viewed and printed. It is a great tool if you have not already found it. Also, Carrie had 5 Scarborough children that died very young. They are all in unmarked graves in the Alleene Cem. I do not know if any of the older ones in the census are some of the five. But, I do know I can not find a marriage for any of them in AR. I will let you know what my friend says. We have done the genealogy on this family and she keeps the notes. I live in TX and she lives in Alleene. Neither of us are related to the family. Well, I am shirt tail related but not directly. My grUncle's wife's sister married Eugene "Genie" Scarborough(b 1892) in Little River. She was Beulah Norwood. Rayedene Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am very glad to have all of these dates. Looks like you came to the same conclusion I did about the 1900 census enumerator's mistake. My problem now is which brother was the mother of the older two girls listed in that household. I also have been unable to locate Jesse in a later census, so I don't know if he died between 1904 and 1910 or what. If your friend possibly has more information, please let me know. Do you happen to know how to look up Arkansas death certificates? Is there an online source for them? I'm very anxious to see if there are death certificates for: Thomas S. Scarborough - died 1920-1923 Eugene W. Scarborough - died 4 Dec 1958 I would like to see what it says about their mother's maiden name. Thank you again for your help. Rosa married first John Malone in Miller Co 1911 then to Herschel H Friday 1916 in Sevier Co. She died 1983 in Little Rock. Lula/Leila married Fred Curry Wright 1915 in Little River. She died 1992 in Little River Co. Tabitha "Janie" married Herbert M Friday 1920 in Miller Co. She died 1992 in Little Rock. 1900 census has Jesse as head of house with wife as Carrie. That is wrong as Carrie (Davis) and Thomas S married in 1898. There is a marriage for a JL Scarborough b 1859 to a Lizzie Saucers in 1904, both residents of Alleene. I haven't been able to find him either after the 1900 census. I have a friend in Alleene that may know where he died and when. If she does, I will post it here. At least it is a beginning and that's what we are need so as to get on with finding what we are looking for!! If you need any other assistance, I'll do what I can to assist you, but because I'm giving you this information doesn't mean I have THE ANSWERS, because often times what one thinks is the one they want, is only the beginning of the journey!! So, with that, (continue and I have a note below too.) Rhonda Warmack Houston (rfhouston@mindspring.com) Within Volume 2 (described below) I have found ONLY two Youngblood (s) listed within these two reference books that list Cherokee Indians !! Emma Youngblood listed on the Dawes List (her number is) #28082 and on then, on Miller List # 30189 Then the only other Youngblood listed is, Annie B. Youngblood only on the Miller List, (this being her number) # 30876 I have volume 1 and volume 2 called both called "Cherokee Roots" which was written by Bob Blankenship Called: Volume 2 (what is in volume 2) A Listing of the Members of the Cherokee Tribe Residing West of the Mississippi river. The Old Settler Rolls and Combination Index of the Guion, Miller, and Dawes Rolls are Included, Drennen Roll Family Names are Also Indexed. Volume 1 (what is in volume 1) Members of the Cherokee Tribe Residing East of the Mississippi River During the Period 1817 - 1924 Here are their International Standard Book Numbers ISBN:0-9633774-0-X ISBN:0-9633774-2-6 Bob Blankenship - here is the author P.O. Box 525 Cherokee, North Carolina 28719 These printing of these books was in 1992, but when I purchased them, someone had torn out some of the pages of some of the names, so their aren't complete, however, the surname Youngblood had only these two entires, so I believe you've hit pay dirt!! Now, you just have to find where it is your William fits. I would think that the name 'Emma' would correspond with your reference of Nancy Emmaline Youngblood, but you are going to have to proceed with care to find the exactness of how the two fit/if they do/ together. You won't need any luck; you undoubtedly will make your own and that's what we do!!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
