Hello Glenda! I have Johnson/Johnston's in Little River Co from 1870 - 1940's. My Dad was born near Ashdown. I don't know of any direct relationship to your family....but I am always searching for Johnson/Johnston's who were there the same time as my gr grandfather Iredell Johnston, abt 1870. While most people he was living near in AL moved on to TX he moved to AR. I am assuming he had family nearby. Now I have to figure out who the family is! Iredell's name is mispelled in the 1870 census. He returned to AL with his second wife and died there abt 1876. His children and nephews lived in LRC. Lufkin, Texas. The Angelina College Genealogical Conference is on again -- for our 12th year! Just a little under six months to an exciting time! Mark your calendars for JULY 17-19, 2008 and begin to plan. Once again those who attend the Conference will have a variety of speakers and topics to choose from. In addition to our regular core staff, visiting faculty for 2008 will be Susan D. Kaufman, manager for Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research and Alvie L. Davidson, C.G. Something new this year - in addition to the two optional all-day Thursday sessions, an additional all-day special will be offered on Saturday. All three will necessitate pre-registration, will carry their own syllabus (in addition to the regular Friday-Saturday syllabus), and a certificate of completion. Take a look at http://www.angelina.edu/genealogy.htm To the left, under Contact Information, you will see two convenient ways to register. Registration is now open! Questions? Comments?
