Author: deeno Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.littleriver/1171.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: James Mize b 1864 TX is listed on the 1880 Fannin Co census with James b 1829 GA. There is a marriage for JW Mize to ME Phillips in Lamar Co Mar 4 1890. Looking at the 1880 census for Missouri b 1869 and James b 1864, they could be the parents of Carrie and the ones who married in Lamar Co. I found the marriage at www.familysearch.org and also at the Lamar Co TX site on usgenweb. There is a desc of James Mize' elder sister, whose email is jewell@brightok.net. Author: Janby51 Surnames: Polk, Mize, Phillips Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.littleriver/1172/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My GGma Carrie said she remember any too much about this short marriage, like when and where. So I'm looking for any info. Carrie Etta Mize, born 17 Aug 1889 in Fannin County, Texas. I haven't been able to find any info on Ed Polk. Below is all the info I have on my GGma Carrie during this time period. They had a daugher named Jewel Polk, b 27 Jan 1909 Oklahoma. 1910 Census - Texola, Beckham, Oklahoma GGma Carrie (Mize) Polk is listed as widowed, living with her daughter, Jewel and her Aunt, (Parmelia) Jane (Phillips) Wilkerson's family. 1900 Census - Clear Creek, Sevier, Arkansas GGma Carrie Mize was living with her Uncle James Phillips because both parents and both siblings were deceased. 1. [ARLITTLE] James Mize family - buried in Littler River County?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Janby51 Surnames: Mize, Phillips, Polk Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.littleriver/1171/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Here is a bit of the background for the family we are having trouble documenting. What I have below is what my GGrandma Carrie told us about her family, so at this point it is rumor being used as clues. (grins) Jim Mize b. 1863 in Bonham, Fannin, TX d. 1895 and Cindy Ellen Phillips b. 1865 d. 1893, both were supposed to be buried in Forman, Little River County. Were said to have been married in Fannin County around 1888. The following children were born to that marriage. 1. Carrie Etta b. 17 Aug 1889 in Bonham, Fannin, TX 2. a male child b. 1891 (died but GGma didn't remember the name or date) 3. Lizzie b. 1892 d. 1893 This left GGma Carrie the sole survivor of this family. She told us that her family all died of TB. ******** Now for what I can document.... 1910 Census - Texola, Beckham, Oklahoma GGma Carrie is living with her Aunt (Parmelia) Jane (Phillips) Wilkerson 1900 Census - Clear Creek, Sevier, Arkansas GGma Carrie was living with her Uncle James Phillips 1870 Census - Crawford, Yell, Arkansas Then I started the process of elimination by going back to GGma Carrie's grandparents (John P. and Lucinda Phillips) then forward again. Her possible mother is Missouri Phillips b. 1869, being she is the only daughter in this family I've not found a spouse. And I can't find Missouri in the 1900 census. 1880 Census - Fannin County, Texas Found the Phillips family including Missouri. But I can't find any records about the Mize family. I have combed all the records I could find in the Salt Lake City Family History Library (I live in Utah), Ancestry.com, Rootweb, Cindi's List, etc. 1. Any suggestions on where I should go for this time period (1880 - 1899) for marriage, birth, and death records? I would appreciate any contact info Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is another Wm but I believe he is brother to JW. 1910, this family is in McCurtain Co OK with most of the children with them that were on the 1900. Now, his name is James. In the marriage index, BK F pg 147, there is a marriage for NW Vandiver to Mauda Credille Dec 3 1901. 1910 census states they have been married 8 yrs. Doing a little more searching on this Mauda in the 1900 census, she turns out to be Amanda Credelle b 1886. In the cemetery bk for Campground Cem Winthrop, she is buried a few graves away from her brother Samuel E. Credelle. Ernest Vandiver May 9 1911-Aug 16 1974 William Vandiver Mar 22 1879-Jan 12 1941 Mandy Vandiver Nov 14 1886-Jul 30 1926 Virgil Vandiver Mar 12 1907-Mar 6 1924 2 unmarked graves S E Credelle Mar 5 1889-May 17 1953 I looked at the 1920 census, but I read the mother's name as Mandie/Mandy. I could not find them in 1930.But, if your grandmother was b 1916 and Mandy did not die until 1926, then I would say that she was Earmin's mother. Mandy's parents were Samuel b 1854 GA & Mary b 1859 VA, according to the Jackson TWP LR Co census 1900. They are not in the cem bk. But Mary is in the AR Death Index Nov 17 1926 in LR Co. Author: deeno Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.littleriver/1153.1.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Carolyn, I do not know what happened to Martha. She is not on the 1900 census. There is a divorce for a SM Johnson md to I.B. in the divorces for 1899 but nothing before that. In the marriage index, SM Johnson md Ida B Richardson 3/13/1892; Mrs Lou Hudgins 5/17/1916, then there is an entry for Sam & Martha in 1881. 1900 census in Sam's house, there is Louella b 1862 TN as his wife, they state they have been married 19yrs. That is how long he would have been married if he were still married to Martha. I know the researchers of this family state she died bef 1905, but there is no record of her anywhere after her marriage. It would be more likely she died bef 1885 or 1895. No divorce for her and no remarriage under Trammell or Johnson. Her middle name is Ascenith. I have Mary A. b May 29 1852 died May 2 1880. She married Joseph J. Mauldin/Maulding. I do not know when they married, they are not in the Sevier or LR Co bks. 1880 census, their oldest child is 8, so I would venture to say abt 1880 or 81. It was prob LR Co and the bk was lost. Mary is buried in the Marvin Cem next to her father. There is a Ma Johnson in the cem buried next to John Z Trammell. This could be Martha and should read M A Johnson. Dates are Feb 27 1857-Mar 28 1891. That makes sense because Sam married Ida B in 1892. The father of your Georgia Shelton has been a mystery. What do you know abt him? I know her mother was Carolina Mears and she married a Shelton. We have never been able to solve that one. I have a very strong feeling the Ma Johnson in Marvin is Martha Ascenith Trammell Johnson. I've been trying to locate info on Martha (I believe her middle name is Ascenith) and her sister, Mary Ann Trammell, but thus far, I've not been too successful. Martha and Mary are sisters of my husband's grandfather, James Jefferson Trammell. Is is possible that Samuel and Martha were divorced before the died somewhere, from what I read, around 1904 or 1905? I have a partial listing of names in the Marvin Cemetary where a number of Trammells are buried, but don't find anything that could possibly be either Martha or Mary. I've been unable to find whether or not Mary ever married. Have you run across any info on either of them. Thanks...in advance...for taking time to reply.
