Smith township was created when the orignal Drew Co. was created in the 1840's. It was abolished between 1850 and 1860. There is no Smith township reported in the 1860 Drew Co. census. Smith township was recreated in 1870, and it does appear in the1870 Drew Co. census. Does anyone know what township the residence of Smith township were reported in the 1860 Drew Co.census?
