This is Herman Bates' granddaughter.  Attached is the photo      Peg   ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT Billy and Jeanie Bates of Star City announce the engagement of their daughter, Asley Suzanne to Kevin Lynn Hawkins. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of R.L. and Betty Jacks of Rowell (Cleveland County) and Herman and Jerel Dean Bates of Star City.  She is a graduate of Star City High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a BA in Elementary Education. She was a majorette at UAM, Association Vice-President.  She was a member of Alpha Sigman Alpha Sorority.  She is employed as a 3rd grade teacher at Star City Elementary School. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Jerry and Stefanie Hawkins of Johnson Island of Hawaii.  He is the grandson of Bill and Charlene Britt and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hawkins, all of Rowell.  He is a graduate of Watson Chapel High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  He is employed by Washington Demilitarization Company. The couple will repeat theri wedding vows at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Center Missionary Baptist Church, where they are both members.  Brother Doney Blackery will perform the double-ring ceremony. Everyone is invited to attend.
