I believe he was related to the Varner's who settled Varner, AR/Lincoln Co. I am looking for any info regarding the Varner family who settled in this area. Names. dob, dod, census, marriage...any info to try to tie the two families together. I am also interested in info regarding the history of Varner, AR and any "rumors" or folklore regarding the Varner famiy. The reason being....we have a family "rumor" that either my great grandfather, Benjamin Varner or my great uncle, Frances (France) Varner (both river boat captians) had 3 families. The legend has it that a riverboat captian named Varner had 3 families in three different ports. One marriage was to an Irish woman at Varner's Crossing in MO, one was an Indian woman in Black Oak, AR (my great grandmother, Daisy Baker married to Ben Varner was allegedly 1/4 Cherokee), and the 3rd was a (possibly) German woman in Varner, AR. I am trying to validate this "rumor". Thanks for any help. Becky
