I am spearheading a new campaign. I am putting up a new nomination form for Arkansas County of the Month Award. Everyone will be allowed to vote. The only thing is I don't feel it's fair to all if I also receive and count votes at the end of every month. I could be tempted to win all the time! LOL The only people I know are you guys, so is there someone on this list that wouldn't mind getting e-mail nominations and then saving them until the end of the month and then tallying them up? The ideal person would be one that doesn't receive a lot of e-mail but being genealogists I don't suppose that happens often to any of us. Please let me know via private e-mail. A good reason to have this is perhaps it will shake up some people and we would see some site improvement and updates. <--- this is strictly my opinion only. Dear list subscribers, I am asking for all of us to post interesting stories, news clippings, war letters on the pertaining to Lincoln Co. on the list. The more we have going on the better our list will be. Is there any researchers from the Star City area out there? If so and time to do research, you could be a great help to all of us. Wendy Gayle lives in Houston and can't do a lot of research on her own....it is going to take us to help. Thank you, Diann McDaniel in Tulsa, OK NEWMAN, SPEARS
Okay, I have finally taken the township map and the city map and tried to come up with something. I have taken the city/town and matched it up with the township. I did this by myself so there are probably some wrong ones. Correct me if that's so or if I left something out. I have added some funeral homes to the site. You can go to them directly from the home page or look your ancestor up in the obits and click on the link from there. It has the name, address and phone numbers plus the map. If it's not there I couldn't find it. Also added a Lincoln County Profile link; Lincoln County Law Enforcement link; some more Civil War sites; Lincoln County Arkansas Information If you find a link that doesn't work, etc. let me know. Good luck in your research! I have added a fast search feature for the worldwide web as a convenience for all. I am adding addresses to the churches and will also do funeral homes. Anyone have some information on funeral homes/directors for Lincoln County, holler at me. Drew County has a new site and I have changed the link. More obits have been added. I have updated the civil war link and will add more to it, two of the links on that page no longer work. Thanks to Oakson we have deleted 2 people from the UNKNOWN list and put them in the Cemetery Residents page where they belong. Need to hear from you out there if you have family on the UNKNOWN list and know where they are buried. Some of you are asking about the 1900 Census, please be patient as it appears to have been lost in the mail en route to the first volunteer! LOL Nonetheless, it will be quite awhile for you all to see it on-line. Thanks to Jan we get the Arkansas Gazette mentions and some are quite juicy! I have asked Betsy Mills the Arkansas State Coordinator if we have a site of the month award. Oklahoma does this and it keeps the coordinators on their toes and their sites updated. LOL Will let you all know when I hear from Betsy if there is such an award so you will be able to vote on your favorite county. Down at the bottom of Lincoln's home page is the Arkansas Genealogy Webring and am thinking about adding another type of webring. Anything you all would like to see on the site and can help do it, just holler. I am not sure that I am still on this list, but would like to be if not. Ephriam & Susan Longcrier Brown are suppose to be buried in Mt. Zion Presby. Cemetery in unmarked graves. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has any information on these graves. Margaret Young, Murlene Degges and I are working on this line. Ephriam Brown B. ca 1812 Catawba Co., NC D. Lincoln Co. married ca 1833 NC Susan Louise Longcrier B. 1815 NC D. Lincoln Co., AR. 1870 census Lincoln Co Smith Twp - is his last listing Ephriam is 60 and Susan 50 yrs of age. Susan is listed in 1880 with son Jacob A. Brown as Mother age 72 and keeping house. Ephriam nor Amelia Morgan Brown are listed. Also Jacob Alexander Brown (son of Ephraim & Susan) has a headstone there but not his wife Amanda Morgan Brown. Is there a cemetery association or committee who might give permission to have memorial stones placed in that cemetery for that family? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have a great day & remember God Loves YOU!
