The new AGS Resource Directory is now available. This is a wonderful source of information for genealogists that reveals what material is where and what is available for purchase with ordering information. It covers statewide as well as individual listings for each county. It may be ordered from: Arkansas Genealogical Society PO Box 908 Hot Springs, AR 71902-0908 It is $12.50 postpaid and well worth the price! Rebecca
I have now finished the index for Cane Creek. :-)
First part of Wells Bayou Township for 1900 is up. Can you read the new front page just fine?

Recently, I was exploring the Holly Springs Cemetery right outside of Little Garnett, South of Star City, when I noticed a tombstone of a person who had been buried the opposite direction of everyone else. This appeared very curious. All the other stones faced east and west, this was going north and south and was in the middle of several others. Do you know why this person might have been buried this way? My husband thought it might have been something involving witchcraft...I don't know. Would like to know. The last known printed proof of George H. & Margaret "Maggie" L. Brown Hogue was the 1900 census; Lincoln County, Smith Twp. I cannot find a death or burial place for George H. Hogue. Any information concerning George H. Hogue (son of John Alexander Hogue and grandson of Bennett Hogue) is appreciated. Maggie appears in Bradley county in 1910 Pennington Twp. married to Craig and then in 1920 to Gus Siemon (Simon) a German from Germany. She must have a hardy soul to have had 11 children and out lived three husbands. She is buried in Oakland, Warren. Thanks again, Bettye Hogue Bond

I am uploading the last portion of Choctaw Township now. I am on vacation to visit family and friends in Tulsa, OK, my birthplace. I will be back on the 23rd and will probably be able to check my e-mail as most of my family has a computer or two now. Take care everyone and have a very Happy 4th of July, and remember what the holiday is really for. Hello, Martha! It looks as if we are researching the same families! My Grandmother Rial is Wilma Avery Rial from McGehee. Her mother's name was Mazie Emma Heflin, b. 10/20/1893 in Star City, AR; d. 12/1/1989 in McGehee, Desha Co., AR. Her parents were Edward Milton HEFLIN and Mary Cathrine "Mollie" WHITEHEAD. Mary Cathrine "Mollie" WHITEHEAD's parents were James WHITEHEAD and Matilda HEFLIN WHITEHEAD. >From what I know so far, Edward Milton and Mary Cathrine "Mollie" HEFLIN had the following children: Walter, Port, Clyde, Frank Roe, Mazie Emma, Inez Vernettie, Genettie Jewel "Geneva", Alfred Wiley, and Edward James. Children of James WHITEHEAD and Matilda Heflin WHITEHEAD were: Mary Cathrine "Mollie", Sally, Ida, Ginnie, Emma, Porter, Tom, John, and Wiley. Matilda HEFLIN WHITEHEAD was the daughter of Stokley T. HEFLIN from what I can tell. I am not sure of her mother's name. Most of the research I have done has been through visiting with family members and over the Internet. I have been researching about 12 families for 2 or 3 years now. All of it is rookie research!! Would love to visit with you.
