G.uncle Jesse Bailey is not in the 1900 census with his father, Bolden Green Bailey. He would have been approx. 19. Older brother, James William shows to have just married and is still in Lincoln county. Any ideas as to where a 19 year old would have gone? Know that at some point he married and was a Game Warden.

    1. [ARLINCOL] Prisoners 1918-1920
    2. Through a submitter's generosity (she's also a fellow county coordinator for Arkansas), we have a listing for Prisoners for the years 1918-1920. A - M surnames are up right now, what I would like to hear is your family story as to why your family member was in the pokey. W. W. Mullikin (my great-grandfather) stole a horse and so he was put in the penitentiary in 1920, most of the family denied it but on the 1920 Census, he was not listed. Let's just say I caught a daughter-in-law of his on a good day and therefore I got the "goods" on Papaw Mullikin, <grin>. A cousin to his wife remembered having to go and bring them food and help them out during the time he was in jail, she had 7 children to care for. At the bottom of the page is whom to contact to receive more information on your relation. The submitter can only give you a copy of the page that their name is listed, but she is happy to do so. I have also added Arkansas Dept. of Corrections information and there is also an inmate search.

Burns To: ARKANSAS-ROOTS-L@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU Dear List, Yesterday I received copies of a James M. Burns company muster roll. Not being sure that this information pertains to my family member, I thought maybe I would post some of the information to see if someone recognized this person as their member. The first sheet reads: Capt. Anderson's Co. 19th Regiment Arkansas Infantry, Company B. James M. Burns, Pvt. age 24. States that he enrolled for duty Oct. 18, 1861 at Ft. Smith, Ar. The next sheets read that James M. Burns, age 21 musterd-in to Capt. Reids Co. as a private, at Lynchburg, Va. July 5, 1861. He joined June 15, 1861 at Tyror, Ar. Later, he was in Co. H, 3rd Reg't Ar. Infantry. In 1864 he was reported without leave since 14 Dec. 1863, dropped for protracted absence without leave. There is a report from the Medical Examining Board, Dalton, Georgia which states that James M. Burns, from Co. B, 3rd Ark. received a gun shot wouond through the left wrist and side. The report appears to have been made Oct. 13, 1863 -- reason for his absence without leave?? Does anyone recognize this person as their family member? We never met him before although another man which we claimed as our grandfather raised us. We loved our him as well as our dad but we have no other family members left on our father's side of the family, a friend of my grandmother's told us recently that my dad (John Lane) changed his name to enlist in the army years ago and " Rack" was his birth name. His Mother (my grandmother) her name was Ruthie Mae Mclendon-Moore and she often traveled to Gould Arkansas..we just want to know who he is and if he is still alive and we want to meet him. My siblings and I are all successful individuals and we want nothing more than to find out who we really are and if we have relatives there. Any information would be appreciated... 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TV.2ADI/242.1 Message Board Post: Hello, I was on line trying to find my father. His last know address was also in Gould Arkansas. I was hopeing that you could direct me to someone in this town that knows something about the place he spent time at. Below you will find my message that I have posted. My father was sent to: The State Penitentairy in Gould Arkansas. My Father Jim was sent a summons in Prison to The State Penitentiary, Gould, Arkansas Approximately. May 18th, 1957 in the matter of my adoption, requesting his consent for the adoption of myself to my Grandparents, Robert Russell McMullen & Viola Watts McMullen. My Father Jim Long never responded to this summons, but it was not returned to the court so it is assumed that he received it. I am looking for my father whom I have never seen and really know nothing about. I found out I was adopted at the age of 23 and It was a very big shock to find out the people I had always thought as my parents, were in deed my biological grandparents. After finding out about my adoption I really started to ask allot of questions. To say the least all my family will take the big secret of my father to their grave with them as my grandparents did. This leaves me feeling as I do not even know who I am. I really want to know who my father is and they are all telling me that I do not want to know. I am 47 years old and I think I am old enough to make that choice of whether or not I want to know about my father or not. I am trying every way I can think of to find him. I know that he and my mother lived in Los Angeles, California together at one time before I was born, while my mother was pregnant with me. I have a sister that is 1 year older than I am. My sister Sharon has a different father than I do, his name was Odell Hardey or O'Hardey, I am not real sure! about the last name. I do know that Odell went to prison after my sister was born. It seems my mother had a very bad sense of picking men. I also know that my father came to Kansas when I was born, I don't think that him and my mother were together at the time of my birth. I have searched for the last 24 years for my father and am really clueless to him. I know that his name was Jim Long and this is all I am positive about. My aunt has given me some info. about him but I am not to sure if it is at all correct. Below you will find what I have. My Father Jim Long was married to many women at the time of my birth in 1956. Married to my Mother Barbara June McMullen/ Married to Fannie Long, Maiden name unknown at this time, Married to Fannie for About seven years at the time of my birth. Jim also had another wife at this time, which they had a child that was 11 years old at the time of my birth in 1956. My Mother Died on January 21, 1957 from injuries that she received from falling from a horse, in Wichita, Kansas. Being Jim was a bigamous, the marriage of himself and my Mother Barbara June McMullen was Void and gave up all rights to Myself as had never Acknowledged being my father, nor had he ever given any kind of financial support for me. I would really like to find my fathers whereabouts, and the whereabouts of brothers and sisters I have, by the many wife's of my father. If anyone can help me out on this mystery please email me at: MCMULLENSPARKLECLEAN@wi.rr.com I hope you can shed some light on my search. Sincerely, Terri Jean McMullen Koscinski (Long)
