His death was in the 1920's, as family history tells it. 1910 and/or 1920 census records would also be a great help. Thanks.

Hello list! I am new to this list, but not to Lee County. My family lived in Moro in the 1800s through the mid 1960s. My grandfather, James L. Willson, was postmaster for over 30 years. My grandmother was Bertha Mae Kirk Willson. My Aunt, Ora Lee Hobbs, was a "legend" in her time as a cook at the Moro Elementary school, known for her yeast rolls. They went to Moro Baptist Church, where Rev. John Collier was pastor. Charlie Dozier's family is related, although I am not as familiar with them. I was nine when my grandfather passed away in 1964, so a lot of what I remember is what I was told. We did live there for a year while dad was on active duty, so I got to experience Moro and Lee Co. myself. If you knew any of these folks and might have some information to share, I would love to compare notes. Thanks for allowing me to participate here. John Willson

I'm trying to locate the death of my g-g-g relative in Lee County Arkansas around 1904. The state did not require death records to be taken until 1914. I cannot seem to get an answer from the county court house about their local records. If someone could help me, I'm looking for a Lafayette (Fate/Fayette) Westbrook, black male, from GA who might have died in Lee Co. in 1904. I think his was born in 1852. Thanks in advance.

I have done some work on her line. I had been away from ancestry work for a while due to work but had come up with a pretty good idea that they moved to the Moro area from Alabama. The two brothers that came here were listed in the Alabama Census as Bowman's but used Boman in once in Arkansas. Their tombstones say Boman. My wife's father and his siblings were Bowman. Why the speling changes, ??????? Who knows. My father in law died years but I married. Search is on. Will add more later.

Hi Jean, You are quite welcome. Everyone, including myself, had a good laugh. Even though it was unintentional, it seems that I cheered up a lot of people last nite. You have a good one and good luck on your continued research.
