Just one more note: I found an obituary that someone might identify. SOURCE: Clark Co, Arkansas Death Notice 5-10-1879 pg 3 Sec 2 THOMAS GIBBONS Morgan's trial for murder at Arkadelphia in 1849. An old grudge had long existed between two old citizens, viz: John Morgan and Thomas Gibbons, both living near Rome. Some time in the year 1848 they met at Rome. The old grudge was brought up and Morgan threw an ax at Gibbons, inflicting a mortal wound, from which Gibbons died in a few hours. Morgan made his escape into Texas where he was followed and arrested shortly afterwards and brought to Arkadelphia to await his trial. The jury returned a verdict of acquittal and the prisoner was discharged. I hope this information will help. I would appreciate any help tracing my JOHN H.
