    3. Soundex is short for "sounds alike index". If your looking for the name and it may be mispelled, it will show up. Like if your looking for "Thomas" and the census taker may have written it "Tomase", you would use the soundex. What is the name and the birthyear of the particular person that you are looking for? Each person should be listed under his or her own name on the census. Even if they were just a hired hand living in the household, or even if they were infants, as long as they had a name. If the kids were adopted, then they might be using the last name of the adopter. There is a Silas Roy on the 1930 cenus, living in Hickman, Arkansas in Scott County. There are three Lucille Roy's on the 1930 census living in Arkansas. One in Jefferson County, one in Lonoke County and one in Ponsiette County. There are no Liddie Roy's on the 1930 census. If "Liddie" is a nickname, she may be using her whole name instead. There are seven Audrey Roy's from different places in the states. I'd have to know the approximate birthdates to tell which one is which easily. Good luck, bj Peace Roses <Roses4831@msn.com> wrote: This is just an idea, and I may be calling this the wrong name, but, have you looked on the Soundex for 1910 for one of the children's names? Isn't Soundex the one that if you look for a child under 10, it will show them with the family they are living with? Look in both Ark, MO, and Okla Soundex's. Just an idea.
