    1. Re: [ARKANSAS] Edward G. Gerdes Arkansas Civil War page update
    2. Jeri Helms Fultz
    3. Hi Malinda, You need to go to Pulaski County site to document his Arkansas records, his death and his record in the Freedmans Bureau. As for his military record, if he was in the Union Army "up north" you will have to get his records from the National Archives and I did send the link to order forms to you. [email protected] You also need to talk to whoever "told you" about his history and get copies of the documentation from them, if they have the documents and if not you will need to get them from the original source. I can't really help you with anything other than what you already know. The Arkansas History Commission should be able to help you with the estate papers and perhaps newspaper obit. Their address is: Arkansas History Commission - One Capitol Drive - Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 Good Luck! Jeri, Edward G. Gerdes and Bryan Howerton malinda wrote: > > HI Jeri, > > Thank you for your prompt response ! > > Uriah was on the 1860 Lawrence Co Census and gone by the 1870 Sharp > Co Census where his widow is listed as head of household. 3. Thank you so much Jeri ! I went to the NARA site and got totally confused....not only did I not understand how they had their information organized, but I also didn't understand their "Help" instructions either. In fact, that's where I felt the most over-whelmed. But ...I have sent forms to NARA before. I don't have enough information to do send for Uriah's file yet. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your expertise. The researcher who has been telling me things is a published author and Douthit researcher whose files seem to be packed away (some were lost in moving and floods)...so, getting sources from him hasn't been all that easy. I continue to ask, and he tells me what he can remember. Thanks again.....~mlainda Jeri Helms Fultz wrote: > Hi Malinda, > > You need to go to Pulaski County site to document his Arkansas records, > his death and his record in the Freedmans Bureau. > > As for his military record, if he was in the Union Army "up north" you > will have to get his records from the National Archives and I did send > the link to order forms to you. > > [email protected] > > You also need to talk to whoever "told you" about his history and get > copies of the documentation from them, if they have the documents and if > not you will need to get them from the original source.
