Reply to Jeri Helms Fultz: It's not just the Bill Couch site, it is many, many Rootsweb sites. I belong to about 10 Rootsweb sites and upon trying to get into a site that I have used at least 2 years, AOL.6.0 now tells me the site is "down"....or prhaps the site has "moved"....or "not a known server"....or other messages. The URLs in most of my Favorite Places are now not letting me get to that site. I have called AOL and reported that and other problems with 6.0. One technician had me change some settings and delete I.E. as the default browser. I did everything she told me to do and guess what?....still had the same problems. Tried to use the stand alone version of I.E.....and again, AOL did an over-ride and wouldn't allow me to do that. I am just about at my wit's end with AOL. For more than 4 years I have put up with them putting my emails into "mime" or "whatever" when I get emails from a brother in Fla. who has GTE.net, and a nephew in Ill. who has Earthlink. Crazy system.....and now, I think I've had it. I'm going to have to pay someone to come in and help me clean the files once I change. I deleted AOL 6.0 once and it deleted all my PFC files and downloads. Fortunately, I found lots of them through Windows Explorer and was able to retrieve about 80%....but what a mess. I have been so busy with other parts of my research, and it's frustrating not to be able to get into the sites I need. Wilma Williams in Calif.
Thanks for getting back to me on this Wilma... I was beginning to think I was losing my mind! HA AOL is going to lose a lot of customers this way. Apparently they don't care or they'd do something about this. Thanks again!
