Hi Members Here's my question concerning my grandfather William H. Sheridan. In the 1890s he came to Arkansas from MN having been born in 1861 in NYC (I have no info on him between his birth and marriage). He served in the Spanish-American War as a 2nd and then 1st Lieutenant, 2nd Ark. Vol. Inf and that outfit was sent to GA. He had 2 children, Margaret in 1895 and Robert Dewey in 1897 who were born in Gillette. While I have little info on him at this time I do have some info from his military service. What I am looking to obtain is information concerning his parents which I would hope would be on his enlistment papers; where he worked and lived while in Arkansas; and why would a northerner be given a commission in an Arkansas Volunteer Infantry. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you. Charlie FL
