March 9, 1904 ELECTRIC LIGHTED TRAINS In discussing the Iron Mountain improvements this morning with General Superintendent Tyler, he stated that on last Thursday the company signed a contract with a St. Louis firm to equip every passenger coach on the system with electric lights, and as fast as the cars could be run into that city they would be equipped and sent back to their respective lines. The passenger coaches will have from 60 to 70 incandescent lights, for beside the three cluster lamps each seat will be supplied with a small light. The Pullman cars to be used on the Missouri Pacific will be similarly lighted, each berth to be supplied with two lights, besides an adjustable electric fan, thus assuring the traveling public every possible convenience. Each car will contain a storage battery sufficient to supply all of the lights and fans for 12 hours. When asked concerning the installation of the fast passenger train from Kansas City to Little Rock, Mr. Tyler stated that would be settled when they met to arrange their World’s Fair train service, which would be in a short time.
