Van Buren Argus Crawford County, Arkansas September 16, 1908 MANY CHEROKEES WERE IN CITY YESTERDAY >From Sunday’s Daily Visitors to Van Buren were surprised yesterday morning to see small groups of Indians on the streets and about the court house lawn, quite a number of them being well known to our merchants as they have in the past bought their supplies here as well as sold their cotton on our markets. There were fully fifty of them, men, women and children, a few of them being full-blooded. The most of them could talk English, especially the men. Mr. Andy Rogers, one of the best known Cherokees in Eastern Oklahoma, acted as spokesman for the party, and when interviewed by the Argus reporter on the court house lawn explained that their presence here was due to the fat that they had been instructed to report here yesterday morning by the government and establish their claims to certain moneys to be disbursed among the Eastern Cherokees. Several years ago in the Court of Claims what is known as the Eastern Cherokees, were allowed a claim amounting to $4,500,000 or about $300 per head, and the proofs required now is that relating to the minors who have the right to participate in the distribution of this amount. Just when the money will be distributed among the claimants is not known, but Mr. Rogers was satisfied it would be within a short time. Hello Everyone: We have posted a list of early VA immigrants that should be of help to those of you who may be having problems with establishing your early lines there. This concerns the Children Ordered Sent to Virginia 1618-1642 and contains a listing of 468 children, including 337 before the Mayflower landed in 1620! We have also included information on the reason for these relocations here so you can better understand why this practice happened during that time period. This would represent many thousands of lines and could be a reason why you may be having problems with your early people there. You will find the list located on the web site at; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once you get there you will be looking for the link Family Pages Index which you will enter. On the Family Index Page enter CHILDREN SENT TO VA 1618-1642. Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. Enjoy Harold Oliver America's First Families

I don't if this will be of any use whatsoever, but since Estes is a sort of unusual name, here goes. Annabel Estes married Harley Bernard Bozeman on Dec 26, 1922 in Corpus Christi , Texas, She was born in Milam City, Texas on Feb 1, 1890. She was the daughter of Thomas Jones Estes and Adlea White Estes. Annabel died March 19, 1956 in Winnfield, Louisiana. Sorry that's all I have on the Estes family. Harvey Bernard Bozeman was the son of my great uncle , Martin Waller Bozeman. Emma in NM

My intent was not to be mean to you. I had simply reached the end of my patience with responses that did NOT answer my question, but instead, some OTHER question. The directions were NOT on the webpage we are discussing, UNTIL I contacted the owner (YESTERDAY) and asked if she could remember when and where she took the pics of Russell Cemetery. I told her I had been there in 1989, took pics, was not driving, wanted to return and couldn't remember exactly how to get there (same thing I put in my original query to this list). She updated the website, YESTERDAY evening and emailed me back, telling me she'd added the exact location. When I first looked at the page, it only said "west of Gravette". I already knew that -- having been there and taken pics years before (as stated in my original query). I received many replies sending me to this page, all day yesterday and if the people had just read my original post, instead of flying off to answer, after they'd read only the first sentence, they would have realized -- if one wanted to drive to the place, they'd probably need driving directions AND if I had already taken pics in the cemetery I'd would surely have been there before. The "west of Gravette" listed on THAT website, when my original query was posted, was NOT sufficient info and NOT what I was asking for. And yes, I probably shouldn't, but I DO get very frustrated with people who don't read and/or don't comprehend the question, before rushing to answer it. ;-) I ask VERY few questions on any list, for that very reason. ;-) And when responding to queries by others, I make very sure I read before I post. Saves me a lot of embarrassment. ;-) And if I choose to respond to someone's post anyway, without an answer for them, but with additional information, my response looks something like -- "I don't have the driving directions for San Francisco for you, but I will tell you there's a great bridge there you should try to see while you are there...." acp -------- Dana Gray wrote: >The directions are on that website page. I am looking for directions or an exact location. I already own pics. I need the info to enable me to find it again. I was not driving when I took pics in late 1980s. If I had been driving, I would be able to find it today. ;-) :-) acp ----------- Dana Gray wrote: >http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~our21familytree/Cemeteries/Russell% >20Cemetery.html > >The above link is to Russell cemetery photos taken and on line located in a >cow pasture in Arkansas. > > > > >-----Original Message----- >From: Bill Allen [mailto:misterbill@pdq.net] >Sent: Saturday, July 19, 2003 5:36 PM >To: ARKANSAS-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [ARKANSAS] Anyone have location for Russell Cemetery? > > >Hi acp, > >The USGS site names 113 cemerteries in Benton Co., AR.
