I saw my message - and realize I don't read a lot of forwarded messages - you should all know how great they are at the archives in Little Rock - if you read the prior message - please excuse the duplication. Want everyone to know: if you go to the archives in Little Rock, Arkansas (in the shadow of the Capitol building - in the state library) - these have to be the most helpful people in the WORLD. If you can't find what you are looking for - they go the extra mile. In a 1900 census, couldn't find my family in the Soundex index - they were extremely helpful - found them - they are not listed on the Soundex index - but they wouldn't let me go empty handed - helped me to find what I needed. If you have Arkansas ancestors - this is the best place to go - they deserve to be commended for their work. Barbara Dickerson WEBB

I am interested in contacting Charles Oates of Little Rock, he and a Mr. William Lloyd Winebarger corresponded about a 17th century silver tea set mentioned in one of Mr. Winebarger's letters. I think back in the 1970s. The tea set belonged to an attorney in North Carolina in the 1690s by the name of james Oates. "Hello again Cousins!" As we are all well aware, missing marriage records can be a major blow to our research efforts. Am hoping that one or more among you might possibly recognize one or more of the above surnames in Clay Co., AR, and one or more of the below mentioned SEXTON family members and their spouses, who lived in Greene / Clay Co., AR, area from as early as the mid-to-late 1850's through as least 1900 or later in many instances: Mary E. (SEXTON) McDONNALD, b abt 1850, IL Nancy J. (SEXTON) SIDES, b abt 1853, AR John R. SEXTON, b Mar 1854, AR, m. Fanny I., b Jul 1856, TN William C. SEXTON, b abt 1856, AR, m. Marceline, b abt 1857, NC James A. SEXTON, b abt 1859, AR Henry M. SEXTON, b abt 1860, AR Ida Rebecca SEXTON, b Feb 1863, AR, m. Pinkney MASSEY. Lucinda (SEXTON) MASSEY, b abt 1864, AR Eva (SEXTON) OPP, b abt 1867, AR Benjamin F. SEXTON, b Jan 1872, AR, m. Edna F., b Feb 1880, AR Am hoping to learn the maiden names of the spouses of the above SEXTON brothers, and the given names for these unidentified spouses of the above SEXTON sisters, and eventually be able to learn the full identities of the children for as many of the above families as might be possible. Should you happen to recognize any of the above families, please do advise. Should any of these marriages be ancestral family for you or your immediate family, will be more than happy to share what I know of this family's ancestry. Am engaged in an on-going effort to identify as many descendants of "Our CRAIG Family!" as might eventually be possible, down through 1920 or so, for the benefit of future generations of family researchers. Thank you for any and all help or assistance you might lend in our family's on-going search for "Immigrant Ancestors and their Descendants!" Keeping my fingers crossed here! TTYL Craig CRAIG Team #8 "Always looking for Cousins!"
Can someone look up this date 11-21-1934 and see what happened to these two children? Georgie Owen and James Edward Blasengame. They are buried in the Heflin-HB Cemetery in Lincoln.
I did a search for James Arthur in Boone Co. AR. This is a database for 1819 to 1870. Perhaps it will give you some help. Search Results Search Terms: ARTHUR (440), JAMES (34398) Database: Arkansas Census, 1819-70 Combined Matches: 5 Year Surname Given Name (s) County State Page Township or Other Info Record Type Database ID# 1870 ARTHUR JAMES L. ARTHUR, HENRY WW I. Looking for military or pension records for Henry Arthur DOB March 5, 1882, DOD September 13, 1920. Born in Iowa, probably Decatur, County. Died in Boone County, Arkansas. On his headstone it says he was in MO VOL Machine-gun, CO 140th Infantry. His death certificate states he died from lung complications caused from being gassed in W.W.I. I think he was on a pension at his death and his parents received it after his death. His death certificate says he was divorced. Don't know who he was married to, or if he had children. He was my grandfather's brother. Trying to get all the info I can on all the siblings. All the relatives died before I was born, so it's been like pulling hen's teeth to track anyone down. Parent's names were James Nathaniel Arthur, DOB July 30, 1857, in Indiana, DOD January 16, 1939, and Phoebe Leviney Arthur DOB July 22, 1849, in Indiana, DOD November 30, 1938. They both died in Boone County, Arkansas. I don't know if he enlisted in Missouri or Arkansas. I can't find this infantry in the WW I records. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. If someone out there has any suggestions on how to find him, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Jan in Indiana

I'm brand new to this list. Looking for a Mary Beason, dau of Wm H Beason and Nancy Mendenhall. She was b. 1840, location unknown and she died in Carroll Co, AR, probably after 1904. She married first Ellis E Evans in 1857 and second Alfred Barnes in 1867 possibly in Fremont Co, IA or McDonald Co, MO. As indicated, her death date is unknown, just that she died in Carroll Co and is buried in Shady Grove Cemetery in Carroll Co.. Is there a cemetery listing for this county and might there be someone available for a look up for when she died and possibly even her birth date? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Kay Masterson
