I have added thousands of deaths, marriages, obits and other news items that took place in Texas in the 1890's at my web site. These are extracts from Texas newspapers that contain genealogy data. Much of this material may not be found anywhere else which makes it a great source for finding folks in Texas in the 1890's time period. I only wish I could get them online faster! Hi, I don't know anything about the Short Line RR, but I was born in Midland. Do you have any data on this sleepy little town. I left in 1936, but my Grandfather ran a little Grocery store there in the 1950's. Thanks, Hal in FL

Good Evening folks, We have uploaded new additions to the Civil War Page. It is an addition to the McGEHEE'S REGT ARK CAVALRY CSA - Company A. This was donated to the pages by Connie Cox who found this company in a microfilm of Cross County 1936 Newspaper. There are soldiers listed here that do not appear in the McGehee roster and the unit is named the 29th ARKANSAS CONFEDERATE CAVALRY Company A. Sometime the next day or two the 13TH TEXAS CAVALRY REGIMENT (DISMOUNTED) ROSTER OF SOLDIERS WHO DIED ON ACTIVE DUTY can be found on the Camp Nelson Cemetery Website since many of these men died at Camp Nelson. This was donated to the Camp Nelson site by Tom Reid who researched this unit. Many thanks Tom Reid for this great gift to the site. These are really wonderful gifts to the Edward G. Gerdes Arkansas Civil War site and the email addresses of the donors are on the new pages. Our thanks to them both Jeri, Bryan Howerton and Edward G. Gerdes. -- "but I remain your affectinate cosin untill death." Thank you again Greatgramdpa Davis for those words. Hi list, I most interested in learning about the Arkansas Midland RR listed in a resent posting. Is this the same Midland Valley RR that was out of Muskogee, OK and went into AR as far as Greenwood and Ft. Smith and north to Wichita, KS or is this a different line altogether? Is 'Shortline Railroads of Arkansas' by Clifton E. Hull still in print? Thank you so much. Mary Boatwright Yegge Gresham, OR
Hi all, I saw a posting on another forum about a Wirt Wills being in Arkansas. I have a Wirt Wills in my family tree who was born in Virginia in 1855. Now I am not directly descended from him but he is a part of my Archer family of Virginia. His mother was Ann Bott Archer and his father, Peter Branch Wills. If anyone is related to a Wirt Wills of Arkansas please let me know. God bless, Beth [email protected]
Hello List!! :-) I wanted to pass this along to everyone, strictly so you will be on the lookout for these things. I, myself, received a total of 8 virus's just yesterday, all with different names. That's more than I have received in the past year, so this is a VERY SERIOUS matter. Otherwise, we would not be discussing it on this list. If anyone has questions about this, they can contact Norton Anti-Virus here www.symantec.com or they can reply to list mom privately at [email protected] DO NOT REPLY TO THIS LIST! The following is an excerpt from the Lists Adminstrators mailing list......I thought this would be most informative. AGAIN, DO NOT REPLY ON THIS SUBJECT TO THE LIST!!! I had people asking me where to access Arkansas' Railroad Records. Mr. Baker was kind enough to share with me WHERE those records are and also to allow me to send this information to the list. Please note that you must go there IN PERSON as the staff cannot do research for you. "You may see the records of the Arkansas Railroad Commission at the Arkansas History Commission/State Archives during regular office hours. However, patrons MUST come to the History Commission to use these records. We can not reference them by telephone or by mail. They contain lots of information on railroads but not the names of people who worked for railroads, etc." Russell P.
