    1. [ARKANSAS] Genealogy Column Idea
    2. Hello Listers, I am in need of your opinion for a project I am trying to start in Arkansas that would involve the writing of a genealogy column in an Arkansas newspaper. I am seeking the input of as many of you as possible to "test the waters" before I pitch my idea to any Arkansas newspapers. I would like to know if you would enjoy reading such a column, if you would support the column by submitting queries (free of charge of course!) and by writing the editors to tell them how much you appreciate the column (by e-mail if I can arrange that, since that would be more convenient). I have 15 years of experience as a writer and more than 20 years experience as a genealogy researcher, so I have lots to share, but of course, I don't "know it all" and am still learning new tricks everyday, just like most of you. I would also like to know if any of you already have a genealogy column in your hometown newspapers, and if possible if you could send me the name of the paper (a link to it would be even better!), including the name of the column and it's author so I can do more research on what is already "out there". My sincere thanks to anyone who can respond, make suggestions, etc. Good luck to you all in your research. Sincerely, [email protected]

    1. [ARKANSAS] Nelson/Evans Reunion
    2. James Kesterson
    3. NELSON /EVANS REUNION-JULY 14TH All you Nelsons, related families and friends, don't forget the fourth annual Nelson Reunion for the descendants of Jave and Ellen Evans Nelson who were married in Anderson County, Tennessee in 1877. Although records list Jave as J. M. Nelson in Anderson County (and Jabers in one census record), a son's death certificate lists him as Thomas. Jave died in 1926, probably in Illinois, and is buried in Liberty Cemetary in Anderson County. Jave and Ellen's children included David, Henry, Catherine (Tadlock), Frank, Tom, Cynthia (Wilson), Page, Taylor, Sam, and Clara (Yerkes). Ellen's parents were Thomas and Permelia York Evans who came to Tennessee from Knox County, Kentucky. We would be thrilled to hear from any of their descendants. Their children included Hugh, Silas, Ellen, Mary (Phelps), Sintha, Thomas Milton, John, and Mary Ann. They were in Union County, TN, in 1880. Thomas Evans died in Anderson County, Clinton, Tennessee in 1907 and is buried in Sunset Cemetery. The Nelson Reunion will be at the Farmers Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday July 14, 2001, beginning about 11:00 A. M. in Clinton, Tennessee. There will be lots of fun and games for the kids to enjoy, and hopefully lots of pictures and genealogical material to be enjoyed by the older folks. And there's always lots of good food. For more information, contact Carolyn at <[email protected]>. Hope to see you at the reunion. Carolyn Nelson Johnson Other families related to the Evans and Nelson families are; Johnson, Henderson, Farmer, Williams, in Anderson County, Tennessee. Rosenbalm and Brown in Claiborne County, Tennessee

I have been doing genealogy for only 2 short years and sometimes it's mind-boggling to come up with the county that an ancestor may have lived in for the census year you are researching. Being able to go directly to the county in Tenn. for the 1820 year, only knowing that it was the area that is now known as Nashville....what a 'find'. Even the staff at the LDS Family ctr. didn't have this information. I am going to share copies of these census year maps with them. So, thanks again. Wilma Williams, Calif.
