Fran, FYI -- You can "rent" these records from the Mormon Church and look at them yourself for only $3.50 per microfilm roll. You would do this through your local Family History Center. If you need help locating one, I can help you with that. Just let me know. Good luck!
It is immensely helpful as I know zilch about AR research and was somewhat disheartened when I read one must access in person or by paid researcher the county records in the AR Archives. I thank you for your time and information. Fran, The county records that are located at the Arkansas History Commission and State Archives are the same records that were microfilmed by the Mormon Church. Therefore, to see what is available, you would go to www.familysearch.org and find the Family History Library Catalog. Put in a "place" search for Crittenden, which should bring up a clickable link for Crittenden County, Arkansas. To save you some time, here is the link: Place details ('Arkansas, Crittenden') All of the available records are listed there. Hope this was what you had in mind and is helpful to you. Sincerely, [email protected]

One reason I read all the postings is that I continually learn something. If I understand correctly, I can go to the site you give and check to see what the State of Arkansas Archives in Little Rock have on ANY county in Arkansas ... not just Crittenden ? If that is the case, I know where I will have my browser pointed in regards to Jefferson and Arkansas Counties. The folks at the local LDS library have been helpful for the last 8 years that I have used their facilities and , I am sure, would have told me this if I had only asked a question correctly. Thanks for your on the list dialogue. It was most helpful. ron ps: as for paid researchers, there are some good ones who earn their $ and then some. Also, there are still a lot of us who are on the US Gen Web Helplist for our countys who are waiting to be found. Listmembers, is there a published list of available records for Crittenden County? I read on the Archives pages that a listing of those records is available in the Archives search room. Thanks for any information. Fran [email protected]
Thanks for your effort. I have tried to find this Jerome Williams on Ancestry before - with no luck. The marriage record you found is not the Matilda Bloodworth that I am seeking either, as she was born in 1856. Thanks again. Larry Wilson
Anyone have access to marriage records of Arkansas. I am looking for one or two marriage records for one Jerome Williams. He was last recorded in the 1880 census of Phillips County, where he lived with his parents. He is next found in the 1920 census of Bowie County, Texas. I have no record of him in the 40 years between. In 1920, he was married to Matilda Caroline "Carrie" Bloodworth. It may have been a second marriage for both of them. Any information from Arkansas marriage records appreciated. His middle initial was either N or B. Larry in Texas
I didn't find one for Jerome Williams on ancestry.com. They moved to Arkansas about 1854 and were listed in the Praire Co, ARCensus in 1870 (Wesley with wife, Ellifair, and son, Rollin born 1859 AR) Watensas Township, Devalls Bluff. I am researching the ancestry of John W. POWELL who lived in both AR and MO. John W. was born 1875 probably AR and died MI about 1954. He is listed on the AR censuses of 1900, 1910 and 1920. His wife and children were also enumerated. Where was John born? Who were his parents? John lived a long while in Truman, AR where most of his children were born and raised. In his will he disposed of his Truman, AR lands. Information on his descendants is also welcome. Amos PAXTON born VA ca 1793 was enumerated on the Crittenden Co. census 1850. He purchased land "West of the TN River"1832; NE quarter of Section Twenty, Twp. one, Range Six West. Any information on Amos and his descendants [as well as origins of Amos] appreciated. William PAXTON was also enumerated Crittenden Co., AR. William was born KY. Any information on William and his descendants/origins welcomed and appreciated. Thomas A. PAXTON born KY ca 1829 was in Craighead County, 1860, and in 1880 he was in New Madrid Co., MO. I am interested in learning anything about Thomas A. but at present would like especially to learn his parentage. I have been unable to locate Thomas in AR during the census of 1850. A John PAXTON of AR is of interest. I have not yet located him on the census, so any John PAXTON of AR is of interest. Finally, any of the Cherokee People of AR are of interest, but particularly any PAXTON/POWELL folks. Any help appreciated.
