Hello, I am looking for information about Uriah J DOUTHIT (sometimes spelled Dowthit, or any Do*****t spelling is possible). He died Dec 1867, probably in Lawrence Co AR. Any connections ? ~malinda jones
I've been looking into the name PERRY in Arkansas a little bit for my son. My ex-husband's grandfather, T. D. Perry (Thomas David) lived in Little Rock, then in Malvern (?). There were a lot of black Perry families in Little Rock around 1900, which is the year I can access an index to, but this family happens to be white. I haven't found them yet. They would have been in Little Rock at least by 1920, I think, but I have to go through that census page by page. My son was told they moved out of Little Rock because his ggrandfather couldn't keep his grandfather away from the railroad track -- he kept getting on trains (he was born about 1914). I don't know when T. D. PERRY was born, but he was in the Spanish-American War. My ex-husband's father's name was Paul John PERRY. He had some brothers and sisters but I don't know their names. Sorry this is so rambling. I thought I'd see if there was a connection. Delores, I'm afraid I mis-quoted in my previous message. It was not Jenny Raines who married Elisha Rowan. her name was Jane (Jenny) Reynolds. The Rowan twins, Elijah and Elisha, age 15, were living in the household of Robert Raines in 1850, Dekalb Co, AL. There is speculation, and the probability, that the Rowan twins were sons of a Rowan man who married a Raines woman, sister of Robert Raines, but I have not been able to find a marriage record to that effect. I was hoping you would see a connection. Looking for a NORWOOD family that moved to Arkansas after 1870 from Jackson Co., AL. A James R. BRYAN family probably moved with them with one of their children being born there in 1875. But they had moved back to Franklin Co. GA by the 1880 census. Any body recognize these names. Thanks. Jackie Morgan
Is your name really Sylvia Harvey and did you go to school in Wichita, KS?
Hello, I noticed that you list Raines and Rowan. Do you have Jennie Raines who married twin Elisha Rowan in Alabama, and moved to Arkansas? Elisha's twin brother was Elijah Rowan. Win, I teach in a small school in SW Kansas, and our grade school children, K-8, recite the Pledge every morning, and we all have small flags in our classrooms. Patriotism and respect for our nation is alive and well in Kansas. At West Elementary School grades 1-3 in Osceola Arkansas Arkansas Mississippi Co) each teacher is responsible for the pledge and most of them have it regularly and did even before the 9-11 tragedy. I have no idea where James & Martha (NORWOOD) BRYAN were in Arkansas and apparently they weren't there long because they were listed on the 1880 census in Franklin Co., GA. But their son, Samuel D. BRYAN, was born in Arkansas in 1875. It is just a shot that someone would recognize the family names. Thanks for your reply. Shirley, are your Lambs related to Abram Lamb who lived in Montgomery County? I know the family was there in 1880 and 1900 but haven't traced it back any further. One of my great-aunts married into the family. Her husband and his father were both named Abram. Jo H. --- Original Message ----- > Hi Sandy. Apparently James and Martha BRYAN moved from Jackson Co., Alabama to Arkansas for a short time between the 1870 census and the 1880 census when they appeared back in Franklin Co., GA. Their youngest son was born in 1875 in Arkansas, according to the 1880 census record. Does anyone know anything about the BRYAN - NORWOOD families in Arkansas?? Thanks for your assistance.
