On June 26, 1926 my dad's sister was born and passed away; according to her death certificate she is buried in Nimmons Cemetery in Nimmons, AR. I was wondering if anyone knew if this cemetery was still there, and what condition it is be in. I don't know if my aunt has a headstone or not, but I'm thinking of making a trip down there and would like to try and find her grave if that is possible. Her name was Gerlinda Lee Householder. Also the name of the informant was listed as Floyd White, I am looking for information on who he was, I'm thinking that he may have been the brother of my dad's Aunt Nora (White) Householder. Nora was married to Nolen Grafton (aka: Buck) Householder. Nora's father is said to have been Rev. Robert White. Any information on the cemetery or on who Floyd White was would be appreciated. Thank you, Linda
Hi, There is a List for the county. Here is their address to subscribe. [email protected] <[email protected]> I used the USGenweb site for Arkansas to find it. If you cannot find a list on rootsweb page, try the genweb site to find it. Sometimes it is easier that way. Is there a mail list for Crittenden County? I have been unable to find one. Thanks for any information. Fran [email protected]
There is also a city directory list on rootsweb. Might check that out - maybe someone there could help. Hello: >From Fall of 1935 to fall of 1937, I was living with my grandparents near Eudora, Chicot County, Arkansas. I was in third grade and my teacher was a Miss Garner. I am planning to go back this fall - Thanksgiving - to find where I used to live when I was a child. Two of our neighbors were Roy Phillips and Mildred Ashley. It is possible that Mildred had a younger brother, J .W. Ashley. Does ANYONE in Chicot County remember these neighbors? I don't want to bother anybody; I just want to find out where road/route we were living so I can find the old house. Thank you so much for your help. Dorothy in Arizona
Dorothy, why don't you try to find a city directory for that time period. Maybe the county library would have one for the city or county. They quit taking orders months ago. Don't know if they ordered any extra books. Try telephoning Lloyd Clark at (Central time zone) 870-878-6555. I understand he is a school teacher so best to call in late afternoon. Good luck. Hi Cathy, I'm sure there is a connection....DOUTHARD is one of the 20+ spelling permutations of the surname DOUTHIT...and one of the more prevalent in the south. You would be truly amazed at some of the mis-spellings of this name. You are very lucky in that Ruth Long Douthit wrote an exhaustive and meticulously researched book called "Here Come the Douthits". She was a librarian and spent all the family vacations and her retirement compiling her limited run, now out of print book. Her daughters daughters have recently agreed to re-issue it . Her daughter Jennifer Boget <[email protected] > can send you an order form. I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity. I have been copying the book page by page at the Dallas Public Library, but only those that apply to my direct descent. There are lots of pedigree charts in the book, but I only copied the ones for my direct line. You can also ask Jennifer for a look-up.....she's a very nice lady. Then, there's an excellent website for NC families where you will find many of the Douthit descendants of John Douthit Sr before they migrated elsewhere. The URL is < http://users.erols.com/fmoran/ > Enter "Douthit" in the search engine (or "Douthitt"...can't remember which) Faye Moran <[email protected]> owns the site and is very knowledgeable about the Douthits . So is her cousin Elizabeth Harris <[email protected] > Both of them are great and VERY involved with the genealogy of this family. I woud recommend that you contact allof them. They helped me find my connection. Best of luck........where are your Douthards ? I correspond with several Douthit cousins and might be able to out you in touch with some of them. Oh...that reminds me. You might want to get in touch with Beverly Pense <[email protected] > She has a Douthit website ...she can give you a password for it. ~malinda [email protected] wrote: > Malinda, do you know anything else about this DOTHITT? > > I have a Mary Jane DOUTHARD, that may have been DOUTHITT, her father was > Silas DOUTHITT or DOUTHARD, they came from GA. Malinda, do you know anything else about this DOTHITT? I have a Mary Jane DOUTHARD, that may have been DOUTHITT, her father was Silas DOUTHITT or DOUTHARD, they came from GA. Any connection? Cathy SWITZER CONN
