This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lewis, Pruitt/Pruett, Nunn, Gaulding Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hV.2ADE/5.987.1 Message Board Post: In your Lewis line, do you have any of these names: Hixcey J. Lewis b 1803 married Levi Tolliver Pruitt/Pruett. They had a child named Pheriba Elizabeth Pruitt who married Samuel Nunn. They named children: John, William "Willie", Hellen Martha, and Samuel Nunn. There was also a daughter named, Lucinda Pruitt, born 1834/37 Calhoun county, Alabama. She and husband, John Gaulding Nunn, named their children: Duonella Clementine, Ivision/Iverson, Hixcie, Samuel, Lucinda "Belle", John, and Richard Thomas Nunn. It was told in our family that at least one brother went to California after the war. Hixcey Lewis Pruitt and Levi Pruitt are buried in the Arnhart Cemetery, Van Buren County, AR. Fieldstones mark their graves, and some stones with initials--T.P. and J. P.-- are in the same line with Hixcey and Levi's. I know they came to this area around the years of the Civil War from (probably) Mississippi. On one Census Hixcey listed her parents as being born in Ireland and North Carolina. There was some mention in the family that they were part Native American-Choctaw & Cherokee. I feel that if one child came to the area where the parents were making a new start, others may have come also-hoping yours connect! That's why I listed so many names. Just starting the Lewis family search if there are any "good places or books" that you know of, I would appreciate the help. Thanks
