    1. Re: Wondering if any other Williams/Self researchers ran into this along the way?

But so far I haven't had much luck. I will say that it was not uncommon for older members of families to marry into in-laws of their children in the Ozarks. I have found this occurs quite often. My sister-in-law has a SELF line and Pleasant Ware Self, Sr. is distantly related to her line. I suspect from the information in the 1900 Johnson Co. census that Serilda WILLIAMS SELF didn't remain married to P. W. very long. They were not living together in 1900. P. W. was living with P.W. Jr. and P. W. Sr. was age 82 or 83. I didn't find Serilda anywhere. I did find a marriage for a Serilda SELF to George A. KING on 09 Nov 1899 Book S page 218. This particular copy of the marriage records lists no age, so I'm not sure that this is your Serilda or not. Couldn't find them in 1900 census. Also, did you find another son for James Caldwell WILLIAMS? This last son is living with the youngest son listed in 1880 census, Francis Marion William, in the 1900 census. Francis is listed as Frank M. WILLIAMS born Jan 1873 IL KY IN, wife Cannie born Feb 1876 TX TN MS 4 children- 3 livnig. Children: Thomas born Jan 1895 AR; Jesse Nov 1896 AR and Elsie Sep 1898 AR. Frank's brother, Thomas was listed last. He was born Jan 1886 in Indian Territory, father in KY, mother not listed. Do you think that James Caldwell WILLIAMS could have remarried in Oklahoma before this last son was born? I found the second marriage for William Jordan WILLIAMS to Mrs. Hannah LONG on 19 Jan 1891 Book R page 16 in Johnson Co. marriage. There are several other marriages in Johnson Co. for members of this large family. Frances Serilda WILLIAMS age 15 to Robert E. BROACH on 01 Aug 1885 Book Q page 117. They had a child named Ezekiel or Zeke. I included this one because the date and husband's name doesn't agree with what most have posted. I will be glad to look up others that you need in the books I have from Johnson Co. Just let me know what you need. I have census to 1910, marriages 1850 to 1924 and a cemetery book done in 1976 by the Extension Clubs of Johnson Co. for a Bi-centenial project. In the cemetery book James Caldwell is listed as COLDWELL WILLIAMS 1826 - 1897 in Hess Cemetery near Coal Hill. Serilda WILLIAMS is listed in Stillwell Cemetery north of Coal Hill by this name, not as SELF or any other last name. I noticed that one researcher had posted an obituary for Mary Serilda MARVEL WILLIAMS who died in Illinois. There just must be two women named SERILDA. The same one can't be buried in two different places with two different names and dates. I'm really not sure that I have helped you at all. Lina Boyd, Dover, Pope County, Arkansas
