He was the son of Rufus Haywood "Ruf" Edwards and his first wife Nancy A. Turney (rather than his second wife Sarah Agnes Adams as you had heard). His children included Sylvester Hassell Edwards, Hyacinth Edwards who married a Dawson, Sylvia Edwards who married a Strong, Yvonne Edwards who married a Morgan, Lavern Edwards who married a Lillard, and sons William T.
