    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hV.2ADE/1616.1 Message Board Post: 1. Pittsburg School. Pittsburg school District #41 in Johnson County was formed in April 1878 and consolidated with Lamar District #39 in 1919. REFERENCE: Johnson County Historical Society Journal, Vol. XI, #2, October 1985, p. 13. 2. Pittsburgh Community. Was located in Southeast Quarter, of Section17, Township 9 North, Range 22 West. About 2 miles east/southeast of Lamar on current Johnson County Road #48. Also about 1.5 miles west of point where Big Piney Creek and Little Piney Creek join together. For a map which shows the Pittsburgh community location go to the Library of Congress webpage at "memory.loc.gov." No "www" required. Then click on "Collection Finder," then "Maps," then search for "Cram's township and rail road map of Arkansas." Once the map of Arkansas appears, then zoom in to the Johnson County area (northwest part of the map) and you will see the location of Pittsburgh. This is a 1895 map. I assume the school was located in this community. 3. Pittsburgh Township. Created in 1841 and takes in about 25 square miles around town of Lamar. REFERENCE: "Township Atlas of Arkansas, by Russell Pierce Baker, 1987, p.103.
